AIBU to wear a long dress to a wedding?

Just for background, I am terrible at shopping and hate buying clothes as I struggle to find things I like/fit. Anyway, I have been invited to a winter wedding, I don't know the bride but I'm related to the groom. It's a posh affair in a lovely venue, church service, sit down meal then evening party. My question is, am I ok to wear a long dress? I am worried that people will think I am trying to look like a bridesmaid!! It's a dark colour and is a little bit bridesmaid style (no embellishment, very plain but really rather lovely). It fits, suits my figure and covers my legs - what do you think? I was going to wear it with a little fur jacket, no headgear and sparkly black shoes.

I have worn long dresses to weddings before, it's fine. It's a good chance to wear a nice dress :)

Definitely fine, especially for a winter wedding to keep you warm!

I think that’s fine. If the reception is an evening event then it may be black tie anyway?

Totally fine. I have worn long dresses to weddings. Most of the time I wear long dresses in fact. If you're really worried about it check with the bride what colour the bridesmaids are wearing- but it's a lovely dress 😊👍🏻

What colour are the bridesmaids. As long as its nothing like the colour of the dress then it would be fine.

That’s lovely! The only worry I would have would be if the bridesmaids were in the same colour, but is that likely? Otherwise it’s v nice and suitable

I think it’s fine. Bridesmaids so often wear short dresses now anyway that you can’t ever guarantee you won’t wear something similar to a bridesmaid. As long as you don’t look like the bride I don’t think it’s a problem!

I always check the colour the bridesmaids are wearing as I have a frustratingly weird ability to match! But as long as it's a totally different colour I think long is absolutely fine.
