Having real difficulty with a manager at work. He can be quite sarcastic and impatient with me; he’s supposed to help me with doing a major task for the first time and the issue is that he wants me to ask questions, but it’s all so new that it’s difficult to know what to ask about! I need more guidance. He also speaks to me only in a public forum, in front of all my colleagues when it’s quiet, so I feel hesitant to ask things in case I get pushed back (as has happened).
I confided in a colleague today (I basically asked if I was being slow, after yet another awkward encounter!!!) and he said that the boss had spoken to him about it... and said that he knows I’m intelligent but is conscious of our interactions/his management and worries he is too impatient... what can I take from this?! How can I meet him halfway??
