The sex robots are coming

Just watched this - anyone else? Couldn't believe what I was watching - total vilification of women, objectification - and in the main sad old perverts who can only 'score' with a plastic object - disgusted. But frightening really as it's happening.

Leave them to it. At least it might stop them from using trafficked sex workers or prostitutes

That isn’t how it works. The more men can objective and abuse a submissive child-like figure the more normalised it becomes.

Men aren’t vile for wanting to have sex with something. Men are vile for creating dolls that look both child like and unrealistic ‘idealised’ massive boobs/tiny waist/meaaai e bum at the same time. They are vile for wanting a submissive creation that ‘says’ only that they want to be fucked soooo much and how much they enjoy it and how amazing you are.

The enactment if these perfect-submissive fantasies do not help women’s place in society.

SushiMonster · 21/11/2018 08:17

“It’s only a robot”

Are we cool with manga child pornography now? We think it’s cool that men jerk off looking at cartoons of schoolchildren? Because it’s onky a cartoon. No real children were harmed?

HellsGrandma · 21/11/2018 08:33

I haven't watched it but I shall now. My issue is that these machines cannot consent and so teach men to take what they want from a female without asking. Saying that using these keeps men away from abusing real women is not true, men become accustomed to abusing the machine and fucking it without requiring consent then expect the same from human women. Porn shows us that men learn how to treat women from watching it and these machines will only encourage more abuse of women. Also it's another layer of fucked upness for blokes who are scared of us human females.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 21/11/2018 08:38

Don't tell me men will then be able to separate the doll from actual women.

I think you are reaching a bit there!

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 21/11/2018 08:46

FFS. Do you ask your vibrator for consent before sticking it up your fanjo? Is your opinion of 'men' so low that you honestly believe they cant differentiate between a silicon and metal sex toy machine and a flesh and blood sentient women?

At 3k a pop these dolls are unlikely to be found in every home.
And as plastic dolls they can't take much of a pounding.
Hardly the epidemic you speak of.
No man I know uses a inflatable doll, of whi ch this is an extension, but every adult female I know has a sex toy.
As rape and misogyny have been around for centuries I doubt this will make a difference either way.

Unicornandbows · 21/11/2018 09:21

I just goggled sex dolls they cost so much money I doubt men will be buying it to just beat it up. 2k to beat up a doll? I don't think so

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/11/2018 09:39

Is anybody else seeing adverts accompanying this thread for an interactive, 'realistic' child's doll, being held by a little girl - and being somewhat creeped out by how the algorithms obviously work?

TheWiseWomansFear · 21/11/2018 09:56

I'm very conflicted on this - is rather they abused dolls than prostitutes or raped women... but it will surely make them stop seeing real women as people with needs and valid desires. Which is worrying if the dolls stop being 'enough' for them...

BarbarianMum · 21/11/2018 10:45

We dont know if widespread use of sex dolls would a) increase the abuse of women b) decrease abuse of women c) both d) neither e) any of the above depending on other factors. Until that's better understood then, of all the things that directly threaten women, Im not going to worry about this one.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 21/11/2018 11:39

Well to some on here they are merely tools for men to fine tune their sadistic sexual tendencies before moving onto abusing real women.

Chardeemacdennis1 · 21/11/2018 14:18

I don't think your average man will actually use a sex robot. They will be used by very lonely people who have no other option, who are the people that currently use sex dolls. They will be used by men with a fetish for it, again the men that are using sex dolls. And they will be used by the awful mysoginistic men who have no respect for women and just want a body to live their fantasy out with, these are the type of men that are already doing that with real women, probably prostitutes.

It's still a doll at the end of the day and most normal people arn't going to want to have sex with a doll. It won't create a market it will just provide a new option for those already buying sexual consent.

Chardeemacdennis1 · 21/11/2018 14:22

On the continent they have brothels for the dolls do you don't need to buy your own.

joystir59 · 21/11/2018 14:25

its the ultimate male fantasy- a woman who does exactly what you want when you want.

joystir59 · 21/11/2018 14:27

Men don't see woman as anything more than robots anyway. I love that quote- 'Feminism is the radical notion that women are human beings'

Jaxtellerswife · 21/11/2018 14:31

Speaking for all men in a negative way is no better than them speaking for all women badly.
Not all men think that way

BonfiresOfInsanity · 21/11/2018 14:37

No man I know uses a inflatable doll, of which this is an extension, but every adult female I know has a sex toy.

I'm an adult woman and have never owned a sex toy, I know two adult women who do. But, whatever, a vibrator is not in any way equivalent to robotic sex doll as seen in that programme. Ridiculous to compare them.

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 21/11/2018 15:18

Oh dear, take the tin foil hat off, you really are doing yourself no favours.

InsomniacAnonymous · 21/11/2018 15:26

"I'm an adult woman and have never owned a sex toy"

Nor have I. I've never wanted one.

WhereistheWit · 21/11/2018 15:55

What is this available to watch on?

PanGalaticGargleBlaster · 21/11/2018 15:59

Why not compare them, they are essentially both sex toys? Both masturbatory aids. Is it the fact that these sex toys imitates an exaggerated version of a 'whole person' that bothers you? Why is it that a woman who buys a device that reduces men down to nothing but a disembodied penis, with or without balls, somehow superior to a bloke buying the 'sex robot'?

Anyway, after decades of the sex toy market being dominated by products for women, it seems there will now be products aimed at men and suddenly the sky is falling and bans are talked of?

How very Mumsnet.

MrsTerryPratcett · 21/11/2018 16:03

Pan it's fairly obvious what the difference is. Unless you're trying very hard not to see it. There are fleshlights which ARE the equivalent. Sex robots aren't.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 21/11/2018 16:08

It’s not the same as a dildo or vibrator. They are not a substitute for sex with a person. I personally don’t think of mine as a person or man. I would think the same about the female ones.

Some of these men actually develop feelings for these robots. I remember seeing a doc about an old perv who had it made to look like his wife who left him but when she was young. He also had a current wife who let him to it as she was no longer interested in sex.

The child ones are vile and people who think better than that than real kids should realise that these pervs can escalate. Plus I highly doubt they would be used as a substitute but an additional to.
