To use my credit card?

I am buying a property with DP and at the stage where the evaluation has been done on property and mortgage has been successfully offered. We have now paid the fees for the searches and I was wondering if I could still use my credit card? I have £850 on it which the mortgage was approved on but I wonder if I have to not use it until the purchase has competed?

I used mine to pay the solicitors fees but not before.

Don't use it until the purchase has completed. Its not worth it.

We had our mortage offer withdrawn THE DAY BEFORE COMPLETION because DH was stupid and used his credit card. the bank (barclays) did another spot check and decided we could no longer afford the mortgage.

We were very lucky and the mortgage broker sorted it out and we had it reinstated. At 5.30pm the evening before.

Seriously never been so stressed

Agree with @sugarbum Our mortgage broker told us not to spend anything once our mortgage had been approved otherwise it could cause problems.

You can spend on it for legal fees etc if it's going to be cleared with house sale money on completion if you're buying and selling. This meant we could move with no savings at all when I was on mat leave (unplanned baby, unsuitable home!) So if it's going to be cleared before or on the day you move in then it's fine.
