I’ve already received an email about Christmas contributions for gift cards for teachers. Fine, I’m sure that they will actually really appreciate it but doesn’t it go against the spirit of giving gifts? I just feel like it’s really impersonal. AIBU to also buy a small (consumable-naice tea/chocolate/similar) gift? Is that wrong? Surely everyone will be getting a small gift anyway?

YABU. There's a Christmas board Wink

As for your question most teachers I know don't expect gifts and quite frankly don't want gifts. They end up with piles of stuff in cupboards that ends of going out of date (if it's food) or chucked away.

When I was young (I'm 44) the only time teachers got anything was when they left or retired. I really don't understand where this has come from.
