Colic

I have a 4 week old DS and I think he has colic. I can hear his belly rumble occasionally, and he keeps squealing like he's in pain/pulling on his ear/lots of farts (trapped wind?). His voice is hoarse now and he's generally not right in himself.

Do I just guess that this is colic and there is nothing else wrong? Am I supposed to just leave him to it? I always wind him after a feed and hold him when he's upset.

I just don't know what to do. I feel lost and am not 100% convinced it's just colic (me likely being paranoid).

Any advice? It's hard seeing him in pain. I love him so fiercely but can't do anything to make him better. It sucks...

If your worried get a gp appointment to check his ear. Keep him upright for half hour after feeds. Warm baths and skin to skin helped my wee one. Have you tried colief? Hugs to you it's so hard with a colic baby

My baby was like this and was diagnosed with reflux at 4 weeks old and put on medication but he was then diagnosed with a milk allergy at 9 weeks of age because the symptoms/behaviours continued.

Does he have any other symptoms?

Vomiting feeds?
Diarrhoea or mucus in his poo?
Bad skin, eczema, cradle cap?
Poor weight gain?

I’m not saying it is an allergy but possibly something to bear in mind if he has other symptoms.

If he had colic you would know about it

ElderCherry I could have written this post myself. My DS is 4 weeks and one day and I just feel like his is miserable all the time. He is formula fed and feeds every 4 hours. Today, I’ve increased his feeds to 180ml and he was draining 150ml bottles. He’s currently on infacol but I’m not convinced it’s doing anything. He farts all the time and burps fairly well after feeds. We have recently changed to MAM anticolic bottles and have seen a small improvement but I am contemplating trying colief as I’m at my wits end. My first son was so pleasant and this one just seems so whiney and miserable all the time. He displays some signs of being windy - knees up, settled one minute and distressed the next...

I’m struggling...
