Today I took DD (20 months) to swimming, with a group of mums, we do it every 2 weeks.
One of the mums said infront of everybody "oh wasn't DD name wearing that last week, and she's always wearing it in her photos do you not have any other clothes oh anf shes always wearing the same shoes" " shes growing so quickly, in size 2-3 now, she has all basic clothes from asda/primark- She wears this particular dress as it's not as basic. Now i feel embarrased. Im a bit skint at the moment, quit my job without having anything else, but will be starting a new job end of december.
Any where that sell decent clothes cheaply? I've checked facebook/ebay for second hand but nothing.
Thank you in advance!

OMG what a bitch!!

"It's my favourite, just love her in it plus you know doing our bit to help save the planet" with death stare...

Honestly my DC lived in car boot buys, 2nd hand clothing is such good value and better for the environment. Checkout FB and NCT sakes from now on even cheaper than supermarkets.

Hezz · 18/11/2018 21:14

That's where you do a head tilt and ask her is she ok? Are you sure? Sure you're ok? With fake worried smile

Iamneverfull · 18/11/2018 21:15

What a nasty thing to say. I would distance myself from her, what a horrible woman!
I buy from Primark (tops £1.30), H&M and occasionally Ebay (you can buy age bundles). Please carry on as you are though, she is warm and happy.
She is a bitch, I can guarantee everyone knows it or will be wary after hearing her be so vile to you.

AjasLipstick · 18/11/2018 21:17

Start calling her the fashion police. Say "Oh here she is! It's the fashion police everyone! Quck! Check your kid wasn't wearing the same thing last week....she'll know because she checks!"

bsbabas · 18/11/2018 21:17

What a fucking liberty! in my best catherine tates nanna voice!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 18/11/2018 21:17

That's rude as fuck, push her in the pool next time OP Flowers

sparklefarts · 18/11/2018 21:18

Your pal's a complete knob

Onlywrite · 18/11/2018 21:18

DEFINITELY only wear that very same outfit again and every time you see this woman!
Oh, and arrive, and make this the first thing you say, loudly -

"Oh look, babykins, there's cowface - let's go and see her, I know she LOVES this outfit your wearing, let's go and tell her we've put it on ESPECIALLY!" Preferably in earshot of other mums, coupled with a snidey wink to them. They'll admire your balls.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 18/11/2018 21:22

What did the other mums say/do?

BumbleBeee69 · 18/11/2018 21:24

what a NASTY mum you encountered OP Flowers

SparklesAndUnicorns · 18/11/2018 21:24

How rude my kids always wear the same outfits more than once, what does she do, throw away clothes once they have been worn!? I wouldn't be seeing her again she sounds really nasty

Birdsgottafly · 18/11/2018 21:24

I agree that the best response is to have answers.

Most Parents are drowning in stuff, it does your mental health the world of good if you keep things as minimal as possible.

One pair of shoes and a pair of Wellies is fine at that age.

Put her in her basic stuff, you don't need to dress her up. Going swimming you should put her in stuff that's easiest to un/dress her in and will then keep her warm.

Most Girl's fancier clothes don't alloy for movement and play. It really annoys me when Girls are restricted by what they've been dressed in.

StarfishSandwich · 18/11/2018 21:25

What a dick.

I would have just said ‘yes she likes it’ and given her a dirty look!

DevonshireCreamTea · 18/11/2018 21:27

Weird cow
Ignore her
It's her own insecurity

Therunecaster · 18/11/2018 21:28

What a horrible thing to say. Steer clear from her. Nasty piece of work.

chipsandgin · 18/11/2018 21:28

Firstly that woman is a class A bitch.

Secondly kids don’t need endless new clothes, not if they want a planet to continue to live on anyway.

I’d tell her to have a watch of Stacey Dooleys documentary on fast fashion & tell her it’s such a shame she has such a low level of awareness about environmental issues. Or tell her to fuck off & stop being such a judgemental bitch. Either or.

bringbackthestripes · 18/11/2018 21:30

You have no need to feel embarrassed. She should be embarrassed for being so rude and judgmental. Why does your daughter need more than one pair of shoes? She can only wear one pair FGS.
It’s ridiculous to over spend on clothes when they grow so quickly. Please do not feel the need to rush out and buy extra things because of her rude comment.

CSIblonde · 18/11/2018 21:31

What a spiteful comment. Children aren't dress up dolls to parade & display. Asda, Tesco etc all do great children's clothes. If you really want to buy more clothes, local charity shops get really nice unworn stuff all the time, usually under £5 for pretty tops etc.

ilovekale · 18/11/2018 21:31

Plain rude comment on her part.

ilovekale · 18/11/2018 21:31

You need new friends not extra clothes

IlovemyMIL · 18/11/2018 21:32

Primark dresses are awesome!! My DD has worn the same one to like 3 parties in the past couple of months 😂

Seriously, where else am I supposed to afford to buy everything with bloody unicorns on it 🙄

RosieAndJimDoTheOldRagDoll · 18/11/2018 21:33

What a dick!

Don't go and buy new clothes you don't need and can't afford because one woman needs to learn to keep her thoughts to her self.

For what it is worth ds' wardrobe is made of asda multi packs. He doesn't give a shit what he wears and would rather be warm and comfortable than anything else.

Screw her.

IlovemyMIL · 18/11/2018 21:34

Another big fan of charity shops here. I raid the ones in the posh areas, and have picked up loads of great brands like jojo and M&S for literally a quid each. Same with toys. I like the surprise of not knowing what we'll find!

Franinipancake · 18/11/2018 21:34

Try not to take that to heart. What a load of nonsense and what a cow saying that! My eldest used to live in this purple fleecy hooded dress, which she loved SO much that I bought a second one. Now in my old photo albums it looks like she was wearing that one dress for about 2 years. 10 years on I have my youngest "happy surprise" daughter and she's just started wearing the same old dress she inherited from her big sis. My purple hooded one dress children!

Schmoozer · 18/11/2018 21:35

Wow
What a horrid “friend”
Don’t go shopping just because of what she said - xx
