Shower temperature safety valve

We had a new shower installed with a safety feature which means the water can't be turned over 38 degrees without pushing a button in.

We always have to push the button in to get the temp hot enough and that comes from someone who does not have particularly hot showers/baths. Is this normal or have they messed it up?

My rads are also running ridiculously hot despite being on a low temp and I wonder if they've turned the water thermostat up some where to try and cover up the cold shower?

Normal

They have probably turned up the hot water supply at the boiler. Turn it back down.

We had a similar issue when our new thermostatic shower was installed. The valve wasn't fitted correctly and needed readjusting. Hopefully yours will be a fairly simple fix too; call your fitter and see whether they'll come and sort.
