Robbing from Relatives

I am watching this Ch5 on the +1 CH. I caught just the end of it and thought I want to watch all of the program. I can hardly believe that people would steal from their own relatives.
I have heard of expectations of young adults to get help from parents with house deposits etc and things like getting their inheritance in advance. I don't think that a documentary would be made if it was not all true.
Is this really a thing now? Is this what people are like and are going to be like when we are old, ill or both? Scary thoughts
I know an older lady who is a situation similar to this and don't know what to do.

I am not watching it, but DH had a relative who used to visit his gran and pinch money off her. It was awful.
And other relatives would come round to ‘help’ but only if she paid them for it. Then do half a shit job before leaving again.

I have cousins who steal. When we were younger they stole my Nokia 6280, they stole me and my brothers gameboy advance sp's, they stole my diesel perfume and large amounts of money. On christmas day they tried to smuggle out gameboy games from my other cousins house. I know for definite who was the ring leader but I don't know which of her siblings she got involved.

I honestly think they were/are jealous of what the rest of us had. They are six siblings to a single mother and had to share everything. So when they saw the rest of the family being able to afford stuff their mother couldn't they would just steal it.
