Gift for friend

I need opinions. I’m buying in gifts for friends and found a pair of pjs that tie into an inside joke between me and my male friend and he’s previously commented on mine that are of a similar theme. So I bought them with the intention to send him them for Christmas.

My female friend think it’s weird that I’d buy him clothes let alone pjs yet thinks it would be fine to buy clothes/pjs for a female. (Which I think is stupid, if it’s suitable for a woman why not a man as well).

Is it a bad idea to give him them? Because now I’m doubting myself and wondering if I should return them for something else.

I think it's fine. You are close friends by the sounds of it. It's not like you're buying him a mankini!

Or are you? Is that what the pyjamas tie into? You can tell us, OP!

Sounds fine to me.

😂 definitely not a mankini (maybe something I’d consider for a different friend who’d find it funny, on his 21st my friend and I got him 21 presents some nice and some like wrapped fake dog poo because we’re nice friends 😂). The pjs are relatively dull but the theme is very outing especially considering the other inside joke mentioned 😂 think Sesame Street character and link it to another gift and you’ll get it easy enough 😂.

No for this friend for birthday/Christmas (three days a apart so will be sent together but wrapped differently with a letter telling him what to open first). I’m thinking themed pjs and socks, photobook of stupid pictures of him playing sports and is laughing at him (because I’m a nice friend), a geeky/punny t-shirt, lots of his favourite sweets, a load of homemade cookies of different types, possibly a pirate hat or telescope (different inside joke) and maybe some Guinness and a couple of odd marvel/Star Wars/Lego or minecraft things. Which seems a lot but it fits with what my other friend got for his 21st plus Christmas presents.

I honestly can't see a problem with buying pyjamas for a male friend when you know he'd like them.

Thank you, she really had me doubting my decision. I have ASD so social ‘rules’ like what’s an appropriate gift just confuse me 90% of the time. I know for a fact he’ll find them funny.
