Boring hen party

My good friend is getting married next year. She had loads of different ideas but has now settled for one n nights stay at a golf club spa type place. Meal treatment etc all in all 300quid. I personally feel that's alot. And not entirely my cup of tea. But I do appreciate its her choice. U can get all the days facilities and a treatment for around 80quid on wowcher/Groupon. Would it be horrible of me just to do that and join them that way. I only work part time so I could plead poverty. However I would have found the money if we were doing something abit more exciting.Grin also to add afew other people are dropping out due to price

What about something like
It looks like it'll be lovely however I can't afford that. I've spotted a deal which would get me a spa day there, let me know if you'd like me to join you for the day.

And watch them drop like flies...

That's a horrendus price! And I'm a regular 5 star hotel kind of gal.

newrubylane · 15/11/2018 16:51

It does sound quite expensive – but I do have a comment on what you originally said: 'I would have found the money if we were doing something abit more exciting'. I have paid out to do things on hen dos that I'd never choose to in real life. But my ideal hen do sounds much like your friend's, and I'd be really quite upset if any of those friends said they didn't want to pay for it just because it was 'boring'.

I love hen weekends and I'm happy to go away for a day or a weekend here or abroad and don't mind about cost either. But no way would I pay 300 for one day and night.

PazRaz10 · 15/11/2018 16:55

I would be honest and say - 'that sounds wonderful, but due to circumstances unfortunately I can't afford to do it all. But there is a voucher deal I've found which means I can join you for the day Smile' Perhaps there are others on the group that would also be interested in using the voucher!
Depending on the cost of the hotel - you may still be able to book that separately if it brings the overall cost down to a more affordable amount.

How did you wangle that deal @IHaveBrilloHair?

SubtitlesOn · 15/11/2018 17:09

Is it local to the bride as well?

mamansnet · 15/11/2018 17:11

'Hi friend, thanks for the invite, I'd love to join you for the activities and happy to stay late for a glass or two of wine, but I won't able able to stay over. Hope that's ok!'

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/11/2018 17:18

@SpanishWife
Hotel was an agoda deal, meal is their normal price.

Plead poverty and get the Groupon!
