Friend posted on social media that they had taken DCs to see Father Christmas last weekend. Last weekend being 10th of bloody November. AIBU or is this just too early to be getting the kids wound up for Christmas?

Could be last weekend one or both parents has off before Xmas. If the work in retail or hospitality they might easily be working every weekend from now on.

Or maybe they just like Christmas. Or maybe they just wanted to go when it’s a bit less busy and rushed, so the kids actually enjoy it. A heaving shopping centre could be very scary for a tiny kid or one with sensory issues.

Or the parents might just prefer the kids see Santa before Santa is sick to the back teeth of kids and says Merry Christmas through gritted teeth.

Anyway, it’s not hurting anyone is it? I bought mince pies and watched Lord of the Rings this week.

We did it 1 year in November including having a full on fake Xmas day as dh was deploying for 6 months.
There are reasons why people do such as what the pp explained 're the advanced stage cancer but for the most part it's just people who will be ripping down their decs on boxing day.

We do Santa as early as we can

Purely because it means there aren’t as much queuing time vs going in December

The best thing about Christmas is the anticipation and the build up. It's like having a big bag of your favourite sweets and eating them all as soon as you can and making yourself sick and not wanting your tea

I do think I number of people putting up decorations early use Christmas as a way of bringing a bit of light into life when life is a bit difficult

That's lovely green

'What's wrong with people? It's getting earlier and earlier every year '

Tbf I remember people saying that 30 years ago. I don't think it really does get earlier every year.

If you think it’s to early don’t do it

If you don’t think it’s too early do it.

Neither scenario has any bearing on anyone else. Apart from curmudgeons who love to find something to mutter about.

I saw the first tree and outside lights on a coupe of houses near me. Angry
There should be a law against it before December!
