Posted something similar in preteens but not getting any responses and the big day is coming up... will take any inspiration as right now from me she’s getting 5 books and a sort of board game!

I’ve a 9 year old - she’s getting / got Harry Potter Lego, ds / switch games, chemistry set, unicorn slippers, craft kits for tie dye t-shirt and lip gloss making, bath stuff, and a pretty handbag for birthday and Christmas.

DisneyMillie · 13/11/2018 16:16

Oh and my friend got her a lovely next smellies / products advent calendar aimed at their age group

CryHavoc · 13/11/2018 16:17

My d was 10 in February, and her main present was a fountain pen. She's a stationery fiend, so was thrilled. She also got a Harry Potter rucksack, books, some Converse trainers, and to choose the restaurant for her birthday dinner.

Ilovewillow · 13/11/2018 16:34

HP lego, books, books and books! An Instax camera, gymnastics leotard and pull up bar for the door frame! Oh and a science kit!

PancakeMum6 · 13/11/2018 16:35

Maybe need to add in what others are giving -

She’s getting a Harry Potter jumper from DD4, some fairy lights and a poster from DD3, and tickets to her first ever concert from DD1 and DD2 (the pros of being the youngest of 5...).
Grandma is getting her two more books and a funky dolphin light, one set of cousins are getting the jumanji board game and an umbrella and the other set are getting a laser tag game.
Family friends are covering the stationery bases (a scrap book and some stickers), plus more books, another poster, socks and some trainers.

I might just end up getting her hundreds of books at this rate...

IIRC (it's a while ago !) Mine both got bikes, but at that age they were also into lego, DD into books and music (instruments rather than CD's). They also both still loved playmobil at 10, and DD was really into KNex, meccano, anything you could make models with - and those sort of engineering sets where you build a model of an engine or similar. Also any kind of arty crafty sets.

And as an aside - what a fabulous family of five girls, - they must be huge fun Smile

PancakeMum6 · 13/11/2018 17:54

There’s certainly never a dull moment KurriKurri...

DD started triathlons last year so a new bike was her big 9th birthday gift. She does still love Playmobil but I’m reluctant to buy more because she has so much (think 5 kids’ worth because they all played with it and just pass on and add to the collection...) and I know in a year or two she’s likely to grow out of it.

Music is an interesting one - I’ve deduced that she has perfect pitch so she can play piano/ukulele/guitar on her own but has never expressed interest in formal learning. Maybe I’ll try and discuss it to see if she’s got any interest yet...

I've just remembered my parents got me a guitar when I was ten - and a book so I could teach myself the chords - if she does express an interest, its a good place to start because you can very quickly strum out a tune and sing at the top of your voice ! Grin

SLL · 13/11/2018 18:27

DD just turned 10 in June, she got a diving course. She's now a qualified PADI diver. We do live abroad though in a sunny country... Grin

worldwandering · 13/11/2018 18:33

Young driver driving lesson (if she’s over 140cm). DS loved it and DD will get the same at 10.

slappinthebass · 13/11/2018 18:38

A hamster

PancakeMum6 · 14/11/2018 02:12

Definite no to hamster!!

Unfortunately she’s the height of an average 8 year old... so not 140cm yet. About 10-15cm short.

And we’re as land locked as you get in the UK.

These are all such good ideas - devastated they’re not fitting!!

Tickets to his favourite teams football match. Clothes. A board game. A new football kit. A couple of small bits of stationary/novelty gifts.

Flobalob · 14/11/2018 03:34

A karaoke machine as she loves belting out a tune.

MingoMingo · 14/11/2018 03:44

Is there anything else along the lines of days out/experiences she might like. Harry Potter world/ cinema/ zoo/ museum type thing she might enjoy?

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 14/11/2018 06:27

Ours was obsessed with rollercoasters due to a recent school project. So main bday present was a trip to Thorpe Park. Went down a treat!

Ginazon · 14/11/2018 06:32

Dd just turned 10 and we got her an echo dot and upgraded to Spotify family so she could have her own account.

MrsPnut · 14/11/2018 06:34

We bought our daughter a junior keeper experience at a local wildlife park. She got to feed and muck out squirrel monkeys, anteaters and lemurs. She also got some behind the scenes visits and a great guide for the morning. It was a definite hit with her.

Bollocksitshappenedagain · 14/11/2018 06:55

For my DD's 10th bday we went clothes shopping. She had a budget of about £150 (some from family) and was allowed to choose what she wanted. She loved this. Although she had chosen clothes before it was always one thing here one thing there when we saw something she liked - never a budget to chose anything! We then had lunch out. It was a lovely day.

PancakeMum6 · 14/11/2018 18:31

Mingo I’ve been trying to look for that kind of thing but for her birthday she’s having two parties because she has her school friends and her swimming/dance/climbing friends, so she’s going rollerblading with one group and to the cinema with the other.

No zoos near here otherwise the keeper for a day thing would be great!! It sounds like a fab day.

I’ve bought another book and some moomin socks now...

Pimmsypimms · 14/11/2018 18:39

Sorry, meant Fujifilm Instax mini 🙄

PancakeMum6 · 14/11/2018 22:50

Ooh - that might be a shout actually! DD4 got hers for her 11th and loves it.

It was freezing as her birthday is Jan but she loved it.
Such a tricky age as they are just in between
