How much do you earn per anum before tax? What is your current position/job/career? Do you enjoy it?

OP posts:

I’d be interested to know where everyone is from also (or is this delving too much).

There seems to be a huge North/South divide speaking to certain people.

KentishMama · 13/11/2018 20:14

£80k plus £7k bonus. Marketing Director in a really cool startup. Love it!

dairymilkmonster · 13/11/2018 20:15

£35000 for 60% of full time - doctor, basically 3x 9-5 days plus some on call.
Would be £58000 if i moved back to full time. Would never see the dc though.
DH earns £80000. Also a doctor.
We know we are very lucky.

bahhumbuggery · 13/11/2018 20:20

Are we all honest here? who knows. So take it as you will.

Creambeforejam · 13/11/2018 20:21

43000- Teacher with additional responsibility.

Moneypenny007 · 13/11/2018 20:24

32k as a quantity surveyor. Would love to have the balls to ask for a pay rise.
My confidence is in tatters since going back after maternity leave

Binkytheslug · 13/11/2018 20:27

YABU. It’s none of your beeswax.

Hushabyelullaby · 13/11/2018 20:27

Had to take ill health retirement at 36 so get a very small pension and disability. Amounts to about £13k p/a

DeniseRoyal · 13/11/2018 20:28

Part time mental health nurse, been doing it for 20 years. I currently earn around £21,000 per year. I don't love or hate my job, but i can't see me doing anything else!

overagain · 13/11/2018 20:31

many women who have given up their career or taken a step back because their husbands earned more and therefore their job was considered more important.

Yes, and then what happens if they split up? Very dangerous.

DH has considerably more earning potential than me but we agreed pre kids that he either committed to being an equal parent (therefore doing some pick ups and drop offs, sick days etc) or we didn't have kids. I know my limitations and I am not cut out to be a sahp.

Livelytouch · 13/11/2018 20:32

£65k plus Car, benefits, pension etc in corporate finance.
Love it, every day is different and gets the grey matter working.
Whilst only been with firm 2 months, they’re miles better than previous, Who headhunted me from secure job, only to make me redundant 5 months after. Chalk it down to experience as my new firm invited me to apply and I started 3 days after redundancy notice ended.

UsedBySomebodyAlready · 13/11/2018 20:33

34k, geek-work in coding. I could earn more elsewhere but I love where I work, the people, great work life balance, flexi time, wfh when I like, some travel, great boss.
There's more to life than money, but easy for me to say as I am getting on a bit and DH even moreso (retired forces) so the days of struggling financially are behind us.

Catparty · 13/11/2018 20:33

Just under 40k- I am a social worker

ForalltheSaints · 13/11/2018 20:33

You can ask but I exercise my option to decline. Though it is less than the Prime Minister.

Asdf12345 · 13/11/2018 20:36

£55k, bored out of my mind.

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 13/11/2018 20:39

@overagain exactly. Same here. My DH earns double what I earn but he's also 11 years older so has a headstart! We share parenting equally and that includes taking time off when kids are ill etc.

mooncuplanding · 13/11/2018 20:39

Occ Psyc on £50k plus bonus and car outside SE....but single income household so in no way rolling in it

ScragginIt · 13/11/2018 20:48

3 /5ths of £37k (p/t 3 days). Local gov/Council Officer. Skilled role & have 23yrs in related industry- horticulture. Not known for good salaries, so this is pretty good. No bonus, no extras, 1% rise when lucky for the last 10years! Like the job, but have way too much so is stressful. Unfortunately about 1/4 of my take home goes on commuting as there is only min wage/min hours work where I live.

LightastheBreeze · 13/11/2018 20:49

£10k for 15 hr week admin, I am semi retired so find it quite enjoyable but probably not quite the well paid career you might want OP

StarB3 · 13/11/2018 20:50

8k a year. Part time cafe assistant at a tourist attraction. Love the job and people but a lot are younger than me and only minimum wage

Harleyband · 13/11/2018 20:50

Over 100K, full time doctor, not in UK. Trying to fit in family life means very long nights catching up on notes and little sleep but I do love what I do.

Clarebobacus · 13/11/2018 20:54

I basically earn enough to live carefully, which of course. I do not. 1200 a month for 20 hours a week, afternoons freelance copywriting, live in the Netherlands so 950 a month rent. Scraping by the but prefer it to 9-5 any day of the week

TAMS71 · 13/11/2018 20:54

£40k as a health visitor - love it. Very varied, rewarding and autonomous.

RubyWho · 13/11/2018 20:56

NewUserName2018 · 13/11/2018 20:59

Anyone not happy of transparency, think this - in Finland, anyone can ask for your tax details Grin
