Head Lice

We were informed via ParentMail that DD's daughter's class had a reported incident of head lice. DD came home on Friday really upset that she had be singled out as having it by another girl who caught her scratching her head. I check very regularly and treat as necessary but DD is clear of it. DD does have eczema though hence the itching and the dead skin would show on her dark hair.

I am very upset that she has to go through this and DD isn't a confident child at all. This morning she was up crying and worried about it. Wondering if I should confront the mum of the child who teased DD. DD doesn't want me too as she is scared that she will be singled out more. Or should I speak with the class teacher about it. Don't want to start a playground war!!

I would leave it - you'll make it bigger. If it does get bigger then go see the teacher - NEVER the other parent.
I would arm your daughter with the language to use i.e. "No I do not have headlice - my mum checked me this morning - I am itching my head because I have eczema and its very painful and sore."

Wondering if I should confront the mum

No. That would be ridiculous

Just let it go and focus on helping your daughter with resilience. If there's any recurrence and you think there might be an element of bullying, have a word with the teacher.
