Mooncup question!

Puddingmama2017 · 11/11/2018 18:07

I bought a mooncup, size A as I’ve had 4 children (all c sections) and I’m 30.

I started my period this morning, popped it in with great difficulty and then couldn’t get it out! It took 20 mins and a fair amount of bathroom yoga to remove it. Never had a problem with my muscles holding onto anything before! And it just looks too big for me!

Does anyone have any tips or would I be better with a size B?

Squat, bear down with your muscles, grasp the base and pull it down one side and then the other. It does take a few attempts to get used to it, but it's worth it IMO.

You need to break the vaccuum before trying to yank it out. Squat down, slide your finger alongside and kind of squish it - you may be rewarded by a super sexy slurping sound 😂 - then it should just slide out with a little pull.

It took me bloody ages my first couple of times - but I realised I was tensing up and started taking 60 seconds before removing it to breathe and relax which really helped. I can now get it in and out as easily as a tampon.
You'll get there!

I actually got cramp in my hand trying to get one of those fuckers out of my moo. Literally stuck in a ridiculous contortion with a spasming hand much further up my fanjo than I would have ever believed possible....

I'm a dried up old hag now... but I must admit I never quite got the hang of it.

I find a mooncup too big for me, really. I have a Lunette, which I find much easier to use. But the pp about breaking the seal is super-important, no matter what type of cup you have. Slip your finger in and press until the seal is broken and then it will slide out easily.

I got so stressed out the first time I used one that it was never going to come out again. Depends on the size of your insides - some people, me included, need to slip a finger all the way up the side to release the seal, as past posters have said. After using it on and off for a few cycles I got the hang of it and love it now. Literally revolutionised my periods. But equally you may just need the smaller size 🤷‍♀️ maybe give it a few more tries and of no luck try the smaller one or a different brand.
Good luck

I had similar issues... so I emailed Mooncup support and they were absolutely brilliant. They got me to answer a list of questions to check specifically what I'd tried and what my issues were. Then, they suggested I tried the smaller size and sent me one FOC. Then, they even sent me a follow-up email about a month later to see how I was getting on. (Much better, was the answer). Very impressed with their customer service.

I had a section too and I'm over 30 so I got the bigger one. I've been much better since I switched to smaller. I also did a comparison online so I went for a diva cup
