To think 6-8 pm is too late for a 3rd birthday party

Gingerninj · 11/11/2018 12:20

DD is 2.2 years old and has been invited to a birthday party at a soft play area starting at 6 and ending at 8. Most the children there will be 2, some 3 and maybe a couple older children. DD is usually asleep by 7:30, sometimes a bit later on a weekend, I can't imagine many of these DC stay up much later than that

Yanbu
It'll be hideous, over tired children

I'm surprised the venue would be open at that time

Jamhandprints · 11/11/2018 12:23

Lol! Are the family English?

ILoveAutum · 11/11/2018 12:25

Oh. That’s ummm...an unusual time to have a 3 year olds party.

My RSVP would depend on my DC though, some would be fine, some would be hideous. If they wouldn’t be hideous I’d take them.

But not in a million years would I organise a small child’s party for that time.

bruise · 11/11/2018 12:25

Christ. You'll be surrounded by overtired little buggers 😂 I would graciously decline and explain your child would be tucked up in bed during this time.

I start my bedtime routine for my 2.5 year old and 6 month old at 5:45! 2.5 year old is asleep by 6:30-7!

PotteringAlong · 11/11/2018 12:27

Definitely. I’d be turning that one down.

slappinthebass · 11/11/2018 12:28

It would be fine for mine. But does seem odd.

Gileswithachainsaw · 11/11/2018 12:28

Hell no.

Not at that age

DrCoconut · 11/11/2018 12:29

If DS3 has had a nap he'd love it. If not he'd be awful.

Figgygal · 11/11/2018 12:31

They're bonkers
That's ridiculous

Oysterbabe · 11/11/2018 12:33

Hell no. Even if DD was still awake enough for it she would 100% fall asleep in the car on the way home which would make bedtime horrific. We've never been able to do a car to bed transfer successfully.

petbear · 11/11/2018 12:35

Defo too late.

Mine were bed by 7pm at that age.

The latest you should even FINISH a 3 y.o. child's party is around 5pm IMO.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 11/11/2018 12:42

I bet they got a cheaper rate as the soft play would have been otherwise closed at that time. If they booked during the day they'd either have to pay for sole use of the softplay or accept that they'd have to share the venue with the general public.

birdsofafeather · 11/11/2018 12:45

Yanbu

I'd decline

My kids are 6,4 and 2.5 years and no way would my 2.5 year old or even 4 year old be happy at this time
Both in bed by 7 and 6 year old 7:30 to 7.45 bed but id make a exception for a six year old to have one late night

Skyejuly · 11/11/2018 12:46

Mine would be fine so I would go.

Neolara · 11/11/2018 12:49

I would have declined.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/11/2018 12:49

That is too late, at that age, mine were getting ready for bed, and were overtired anyway.

Aeroflotgirl · 11/11/2018 12:49

I think they got a cheaper rate off peak, and the sole use of the soft play.

TeddybearBaby · 11/11/2018 15:16

Fine for me tbh if it’s the weekend. Just go to bed late. Wouldn’t bother me. Does sound like an odd time though!!

maddiemookins16mum · 11/11/2018 15:22

Too late.

Sleeplikeasloth · 12/11/2018 09:10

It would be a pretty good time for us, but I accept we're in the minority over this.

ArfArfBarf · 12/11/2018 09:11

I’d probably attend as a one-off at the weekend, but YANBU.

EssentialHummus · 12/11/2018 09:17

I'm another one wondering if they're Spanish / Italian. But no, I doubt we'd attend.

HopeGarden · 12/11/2018 09:17

YANBU.

We’ve generally either started the bedtime routine for our 5 & 7 yr old by 6pm or are getting ready to start it.

A 6 - 8 pm party would be too late for them now, never mind when they were 3 yrs old!

Scotinoz · 12/11/2018 09:22

My kids are 3.5 and nearly 5. They're in bed by half 7. If the party was Fri/Sat, I'd take them without a de one thought. Mid week though would depend on how much we liked the host 😳

OnceUponATimeInAmerica · 12/11/2018 09:22

I had a party invitation for 5-7pm for my 8 year old a couple of weeks ago and was wavering about accepting it as too late for him! Let alone 2 and 3 year olds until 8pm.
