I work part time (3 days per week) at a large multinational. I've worked at the same pay and grade for the last four years and during that period my responsibilities and the size of my team have grown significantly.
My employer has always disliked the fact that I work 3 days. In their view it should have been a temporary arrangement and they have been asking continuously for the last couple of years if I'd consider going up to four days. The reason being that they don't want to encourage others to work 3 days, they're an American organisation and this isn't the done thing.
I don't want to work four days and am doing really well on three - my performance is highly rated.
My boss has told me again that I won't be promoted or have a pay rise this year, despite my top performance. She originally put me on the promotion list but I have now been taken off. The reason being that I need a bigger "platform" to be promoted and that "platform" can only be there if I work 4 days per week.
AIBU to think this is sh*t? This same organisation spouts on about attracting working mothers, closing the gender pay gap and "flexible working"...
I'm feeling sad and frustrated.
