. . . to spend £450 on a hair curler?

Maybe someone needs to talk me off the ledge I seem to have found myself on.

The Dyson Airwrap. Looks magical. I covet the curls. And Currys has it in stock, so I'm sitting here clutching my debit card with sweaty hands. But £450 for the complete version . . . ouch.

It's not an issue financially, nothing will suffer - no kids, just two high-maintenance (but ungrateful) cats and even then their special grain-free diet won't be compromised.

But really. £450. Am I crazy?

Looooook . . .

Funnily enough I’ve been looking at this tonight, as well as the hairdryer. I have thin, fine, wavy, frizz-prone hair which is really affected by humidity, and while straighterners are the only things that sort it, I know I’m inflicting more damage every time I use them. So I’m wondering whether I’d be better off with the ‘proper’ hairdryer as I gather that it’s a better dryer than just using the dryer function on the air wrap? Or am I wrong?

Anyway whatever op, do report back if you decide to go for it!

strawberrypig · 09/11/2018 21:34

I bought one last week, I spend bare minimum on my hair, have had the cheapest hairdryers etc. I am useless at doing my hair but this is the most amazing thing ever! In 10 minutes I can go from sopping wet to styled and it lasts all day.
I got mine at John Lewis as they had a hair bar set up where you got a go at the airwrap, I didn't mean to buy it but, flip, it made me look amazing! They set up my warranty instantly so I was protected going home.

ForFiveMinutes · 09/11/2018 21:39

FabulousTomatoes same hair type and I didn’t think I’d be able to wean myself off the straighteners, but I’ve not used them all week and haven’t exploded into a ball of fine frizz!

loubeylou68smellsofreindeerpoo · 09/11/2018 21:40

omg! I've been hovering over the order button on curry's too. I own a salon and think it looks fab but £450 is a lot of money for a dryer/curler

Shirleyphallus · 09/11/2018 21:43

@strawberrypig which JL was that in? I would love to try one

SgtFredColon · 09/11/2018 21:52

I had never heard of this 5 minutes ago and now I want one!

strawberrypig · 09/11/2018 21:56

John Lewis in Bristol.

e1y1 · 09/11/2018 21:58

This review on YouTube didn't make it look that promising Sad

Princessmushroom · 09/11/2018 21:58

Do it and report back so I can get one Halo

QuestionableMouse · 09/11/2018 22:00

I'd watch a range of reviews. Some people have had terrible trouble with it.

Actually if you hang on a few weeks you'll probably get one half price in the sales

KatesMott · 09/11/2018 22:00

I get a bouncy blow dry once a week at the cost of £30, if I could guarantee this a) worked and b) I could actually use it as I’m terrible with hair then I’d save myself a fortune! Please report back!

My DSis had it and sent it back. Wasn't impressed.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 09/11/2018 22:04

I've watched a few YouTube reviews too and they are not that great. They're OK, but you'd want better than ok for that much money! One in particular said it wasn't much good for very long hair because the barrels are short. Have a look at some independent reviews before you decide.
I've got a fab revlon hair styler/dryer thing which isn't for curling but for doing a pouffy blow dry like at the hair dressers bought entirely on the back of YouTube reviews.

PetuliaBlavatsky · 09/11/2018 22:07

KatesMott if it's a pouffy blow dry you are after, try this..

Frazzled2207

I have very thick hair (not an exaggeration, it's too thick in my opinion) with a natural wave, with my older hair dryer I'd have to wait until my hair was all but air dried before blowdrying as I've had them literally blow up in my hands. The Dyson I can use almost straight away and it always makes my hair feel glossy and nice, and in about half the time. The fixtures are good too, it actually has a diffuser for the very seldom times I can be bothered to do that. Its got a really good guarantee period too. For me it was worth the investment.

dementedma · 09/11/2018 22:11

yes, you are crazy.

FabulousTomatoes · 09/11/2018 22:14

Thanks for your post forfiveminutes. I’m sorely tempted but still considering just going for the hairdryer!

FabulousTomatoes · 09/11/2018 22:15

Is the hairdryer good enough on the air wrap iris it too weak to dry hair completely?

FabulousTomatoes · 09/11/2018 22:15

Or is

PawPawNoodle · 09/11/2018 22:18

Just realised i sound like a sales rep - I'm honestly not! Just a big Dyson fan (which ironically is next on my list of purchases)

KatesMott · 09/11/2018 22:18

Thanks @PetuliaBlavatsky I’ll look into that!

OrigamiZoo · 09/11/2018 22:23

I love the way the models caress the phallic dyson and close their eyes as they reach the climax of perfect curl.

SouthernComforts · 09/11/2018 22:24

That's almost a month's rent for me Shock which is irrelevant so... treat yoself!
