Dry cleaning debacle - whose fault?

Perhaps you can help me out!

Dry clean only jumper is placed in washing basket by its owner. Person who does the washing separates contents of basket into lights and darks and puts in washing machine accordingly. Jumper shrinks and goes bobbly in wash. Whose fault is it the jumper was ruined?

Definitely the jumper owner - dry cleaning goes in the dry cleaning pile, not the washing basket.

If the owner of the jumper is 16 or above then they’re capable of determining whether an item should be put in the wash or not (probably younger actually) so I’d say the jumper owner. Same goes for pockets in my house. I refuse to empty pockets as the item owner should have taken responsibility, so if something gets damaged that’s their look out.

Thank you! I'm glad to know you agree! An adult should be able to put their clothes in the right places for someone to be able to do the washing properly. Washing basket means things for the washing machine, dry clean only means items go out of the house to be cleaned, therefore go in a bag in the bottom of the wardrobe which will be taken to the dry cleaner once there are enough things for it to be worth the trip!

Totally, utterly, absolutely 100% the fault lies with the person who put the jumper in the WASHING basket!

I'd say 14 and over actually. Definitely owners cock up - nobody checks every sodding care label of every item in the wash basket.

In my house even hand wash only went in a separate basket.

Mind to be honest we both tend to avoid buying dry clean/hand wash only and anything that might clearly need ironing in the first place - just a pita!
