What Makes you Feel cosy in Winter

Just had a chat with a few friends, and we decided it's the fact that when you reach November, you feel cosy because Christmas is just around the corner, and everybody is more forgiving of each other. AIBU to think Winter does have it's good points.

I think it does at the start of winter. I live to curl up and watch some TV or a movie that's also comforting, cook hearty food and not leave the house.

The same things I love as winter kicks in are probably what I hate by March, though this year it was worse by our long long winter. I was sick of not being able to go and do outdoor things like walking around local towns in and out of shops, not being able to sit in a beer garden or spend hours in the garden!

I think the turning of seasons is probably when we appreciate then most as out behaviour shifts to something that feels new.

My favourite time of year as the weather is never a let down, unlike summer 😂 I love winter spice candles, fluffy socks and Xmas films from mid November onwards

A proper pub after a wintery walk.

We have an old range in our dining room, and we certainly know it's winter when it becomes cold enough to build a real fire up in it. Usual, it's around bonfire night, but it's soo much warmer this year.

I also know it's winter when one of the kitchen cupboards becomes the Christmas cupboard, filled with goodies ready for the Christmas holiday.

You are more likely to draw your curtains when the weather is colder. The heating is on, maybe fairy lights etc. A few candles out and away you go !

Hot chocolate (especially if you can sneak a bit of Bailey's or disaronno in it!)

I love Yankee candles with a Christmassy smell in the evenings.

A really cosy meal, like shepherd's pie (for me it has to be something with mashed potato involved)

Spiced apple and cinnamon scented candles or wax melts

Walking home from picking up DD from nursery as it's starting to get dark

Wearing my favourite knitted scarf and mittens!

Also in our house, the Stick Man DVD always comes out this time of year and seems to be played repeatedly until Spring- alongside the two Gruffalo episodes. They always make me feel cosy :)

I think it's coming home from work/ school run/ whatever for the day and immediately putting on jammies with dressing gown and fluffy slippers!

Hot drinks, fluffy socks, toasty fires and scented candles.
