To be so clueless RE breast tenderness

I know I am stupid to be asking but I don't know

I'm mid thirties.

Last month about a week before my period I had breast tenderness, really sore if knocked/touched. It went during my period, all good.

Now, last week I had it again - which would be near mid cycle. Went for about a day, then back. Had it for a few days. I'm still having it now, but not due on for another 9 days. Pretty much only the left breast though. No other changes apparent.

Does this sound right? Like I say I'm mid thirties and have never had this before in my life.

Thank you

I had similar to that when I had cyst. Is anywhere particularly sore when you press on it.

slightly, just on and just under the nipple area. it did go for a couple of weeks though, could cysts do that? would i feel a lump?

When I had cysts the discomfort was much more noticeable in the 2nd half of my cycle. You may not feel a lump if the cyst is deep under the surface particularly if there is general pre period swelling.
I would go and see a doctor if you are worried. They may well refer you to the breast clinic. I 've been referred 4 times but each time it was a cyst which was quickly dealt with.

It’s probably just hormonal.

fatbottomgirl67 · 09/11/2018 08:10

Never suffered until i had kids then it got so bad i winced when they wanted a cuddle. Convinced myself it was breast cancer. Went to see my Dr who told me to take oil of evening primrose. Thought she was bonkers. Not a herbal/ supplement believer What a difference. Took a month to kick in but never suffered again. I take super strength ones from boots 1 a day. Give it a go.

I get this every month but if it's not normal for you maybe worth investigating.

I have this too (but it's my right one)!

I had it checked out about 10 years ago. Had an X-ray and ultrasound to rule out the obvious. Turns out I had a type of mastitis (not sure I spelt that right). Had antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. I don't have any kids (normally mastitis come with breast feeding)

It's has flared up again recently, and I'm at the doctors on Monday. Worth getting checked. Also we are TTC (for 2 years) so really aware of keeping my health tip top x

My OH is a doctor and he always says that if you are worried, see a Dr. There is nothing they like more that telling you it's nothing sinister. X

Thank you all. I think it’s probably hormonal but I am a worrier. I know it’s a long wait for my doctors (usually a few weeks) so wanted opinions before wasting their time. I’ll get checked out though. Thanks again

I really don’t think that it is anything serious from what you have written. Seems like it has a hormonal trigger (and the way we experience periods does change through our lives). But I f it is only one breast I would book in with a private gp for a prossional opinion if you don’t have access to an NHS go. Also have a look at this link www.macmillan.org.uk/information-and-support/breast-cancer/understanding-cancer/signs-symptoms.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0JrwhoXH3gIViZ3VCh0Mkwy6EAAYAiAAEgKWQvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
