Neighbours parking in our bays!!

So we bought our property about 5 months ago. It's a newish townhouse with x3 parking bays. We own the bays they're in our deeds.
There is a particular neighbour to us who likes to park in our bays, without asking etc.
After it happening a couple of times DH requested politely that they didn't do this. We work shifts & leave & come home at all times.
They basically told him to do one & drove off.
After it happened again DH left a polite note saying these bays belong to .... number please don't Park here.
They posted a note back saying GET A LIFE on.
So we bought & fitted parking bollards.
Tonight I'm at work. A bollard was left down awaiting my return so I can park up they have parked in a bay!!
so DH speaks to them again & he received a load of abuse, threats, saying we need to get a life etc
Despite them being our property!
It is equivalent to someone parking on someones driveway.
Anyway the police were called to have a chat with them for being verbally abusive.
Is it just us BU or are they being dicks?
The bays are even marked up to the number of our house!

It would piss me off too. You bought the house believing you'd always have somewhere to park. Surely he wouldn't park on your driveway if you had one? Knobber with a sense of entitlement!

GertrudeCB · 07/11/2018 21:33

Can you lock the bollard up and block them in ?

mimibunz · 07/11/2018 21:33

I have heard that you can pay to have them towed away. Not sure if it’s true or if you want to do that as they are neighbours.

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:34

The dad (I think, don't even know them) of the neighbour came nose to nose with DH.

Oh no! Any chance they rent and might move on, or have they also purchased in last few months too and you’re stuck with them? Cheeky unpleasant bastards

londonrach · 07/11/2018 21:34

Just put bollard up and lock it

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:35

I'm just a bit worried about our cars now. They might come out & do something.

MrTrebus · 07/11/2018 21:35

Just stop engaging with them but keep the bollards up at all times when you're not parked there. They'll soon get bored.

jaychops · 07/11/2018 21:35

Diagram!

Laiste · 07/11/2018 21:35

Did the police come out? What did they advise?

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:35

They're actually Housing association tenants.

OP posts:
Laiste · 07/11/2018 21:36

Best not to put the bollards down in future until you're there with the car ready to drive in.

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:37

The police came out. They advised them not to park there ( although it is civil) however the verbal abuse is not acceptable so they addressed that.

TulipsInBloom1 · 07/11/2018 21:37

That works in your favour. Contact the HA. Report them to their housing manager

IStandWithPosie · 07/11/2018 21:38

Assholes! I’ve had similar issues. Police involved then too. The man got very scary with me.

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:38

They even said they would park in our bin store bay & pull the bins out as it's not ours!!

OP posts:
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/11/2018 21:38

I think the only thing you can do is leave the bollards up until you actually need to access or leave .
They will continue to take the piss if they have the chance. Don't et them gain access and don't have anything to do with them.

Now you do know that a generous handful of bird seed scattered over their car roof gives a very interesting pattern to the windscreen...................................?

Racecardriver · 07/11/2018 21:38

Ok so 1. Complain to HA and 2. Get cctv

GertrudeCB · 07/11/2018 21:39

Complain to the HA. Cheeky fuckers.

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:39

I'm gonna send email to HA tomorrow.

OP posts:
IStandWithPosie · 07/11/2018 21:39

Yes! Contact the HA and report this especially the abuse and the police involvement. They are making themselves bad tenants. Ring the HA every single time they park there.

Santaispolishinghissleigh · 07/11/2018 21:39

Cctv. Tomorrow.

EggysMom · 07/11/2018 21:39

There's no point having bollards if they are going to be left down - you have to be diligent about only raising/lowering when you are actually moving the vehicle.

MsMiaWallace · 07/11/2018 21:39

I'm glad it's not just us who think they're cheeky twats.

OP posts:
BrightYellowDaffodil · 07/11/2018 21:39

Absolutely they are dicks, and dicks of the very first and highest order to boot.

Pain as it is, it sounds like you'll have to leave the parking bollards up until you’re actually parking because these people are the sort of arseholes who’ll park in your spaces to spite you. If they can’t ever park in your spaces, it’s avoids the. confrontation. If that’s a hassle, are remote control bollards an option?
