To want to re-prioritise my time?

I’ve been on a course for work today which covered amongst other things the importance of wellbeing and listening to our CEO talking about how he prioritises exercise and meditation in his life despite his high powered job.

We had a few discussions around this and it got me thinking that since I allegedly work to earn money to provide for my family then why do I spend so much time travelling for work, working all the hours and not actually spending more time with my family who I say are my priority.

AIBU to reassess my 24 hours in a day and prioritise family time and sleep over work from now on and how do I discipline myself to do this?

YANBU at all - though I think most people would say it is a balance.

To a greater extent, it will depend on your job, or your career. Some jobs do involve longer hours or shift work or the need to travel, or the need to work unsociable hours or the need for a person to be on call. Others don't.
Some jobs give you autonomy over your working hours, and others don't.
Many jobs will happily let you put in more and more extra hours and come to accept that as 'normal' and then 'expected'.

I spend quite a lot of my time (but not all) working from home. One of the downsides is that there is no "going home time", no cleaner coming round trying to work round you / no caretaker coming and locking the building up / 'no looking around and seeing all your colleagues have left the building' , so it is actually quite easy to work well into the evening as you think "Oh, I'll just do this before I stop" etc. Personally I counter that by keeping a log of hours worked, and then starting later some days, or deliberately doing something like making dinner, or going for a walk round the block at lunch on other days, but I have to 'justify it' to myself by looking at those logged hours.
