AIBU to think we don’t need 25 different cleaning products to do the same job!

Am a fool to marketing perhaps but seriously why do I have a cupboard full of half empty cleaning products when surely a handful will do everything?!
Tell me what your must haves are. Then I will use my 100 products and start from scratch saving the environment and my wallet! Can’t live without Zoflora though. I need a disinfectant in my life. Got kids who are you know gross. X

I would class Cif, flash with bleach and some type of polish as essential. Obv you would have plain bleach.

RedneckStumpy · 07/11/2018 19:27

Apple cider vinegar works for everything, it’s all we use.

We can’t use bleach due to our septic system

White vinegar is supposed to be good for lots of different things.

The manufacturers of my new shower said to clean the glass with white vinegar. Which is not something I can actually find in a shop. So in a fit of enthusiasm I bought four five-litre containers off Amazon for £12. I need to find more things to use it on, or three out of four of those containers are going to pass their use-by date before I open them. (Apparently they are good for two years.)

White vinegar, I use it on everything, and even put it down the loo. I buy it in bulk, 20 litres every couple of months.

Star drops 🌟

I have washing up liquid, bleach, a cream cleaner, a bathroom spray and vinegar. Plus liquid for the washing machine.

AprilShowers16 · 07/11/2018 19:36

This might be a stupid question but does using white vinegar not make your house smell of vinegar?

Bestseller · 07/11/2018 19:37

There is a smell while youre cleaning but it doesn't linger

Pissedoffdotcom · 07/11/2018 19:39

White vinegar
Bicarb of soda
Zoflora

We don't use anything else for cleaning except for the loo, which gets the Harpic treatment & toilet duck!

Mammyofonlyone · 07/11/2018 19:39

I was wondering that about the vinegar smell!

Pissedoffdotcom · 07/11/2018 19:40

You can smell it whilst it's being used but not once everything is clean & dry. We use vinegar & water mix for the bathroom, works a treat. Then bicarb & vinegar for anything particularly yuck

DameFanny · 07/11/2018 19:41

Limescale spray does the heavy lifting in the bathroom
Method purple spray kitchen and spills
Loo cleaner
Damp dust with water and a tiny tiny bit of zooflora linen
Beeswax for unvarnished wood
Floor cleaner

So 7 products, which I could probably whittle down further but that's not onerous

Using microfibre cloths means you don't need anything but water on Windows and glass

Beebumble2 · 07/11/2018 20:25

Didn’t have my glasses on and cleaned the bathroom floor with shower spray! It came up beautifully!
