Why does MNHQ allow all sorts of non AIBUs in Aibu, yet remove all Brexit/anti Brexit threads?o

This is the biggest issue to hit our country in over 50 years and sadly many people are ignoring the issues/ consequences. The MN I joined a decade ago would not have buried this issue.

Current AIBUS include:
Which mooncup brand should I buy?
Somebody’s sweaty fanny
Recommendations for a weekend away
Alternatives to bottled water
Pensions

The bar is not that high tbh.

Recently followed very absorbing thread on brexit. Wasn't taken down or anything from what I can remember.

motherone · 06/11/2018 03:05

To be honest I don't understand brexit at all. Went to speak to a Morgatge advisor to help explain etc and she didn't know what gonna happen scared me a bit like I know my job and would get sacked if I didn't but these politicians have no clue!!

A580Hojas · 06/11/2018 03:51

Good question Mardy.

TristanDaCunha · 06/11/2018 04:49

MNHQ are bombarded with reports whenever a Brexit related thread gets posted in AIBU. Who are these people who are so keen to suppress discussion and why are MNHQ giving into them?

Redglitter · 06/11/2018 05:00

Are they being deleted or just moved to the Brexit section?

TristanDaCunha · 06/11/2018 06:51

Why do they need to be moved to the Brexit section, especially if they are a genuine AIBU? Why are people so desperate to have them moved off the busiest board. Either ignore or engage but why bother reporting?

A580Hojas · 06/11/2018 08:36

That's exactly Mardy's point I think. He never bothered to move anything out of AIBU. Some posters literally don't know there are other topics on Mumsnet! So why the special treatment for threads about Brexit? She's right to be suspicious.

A580Hojas · 06/11/2018 08:37

*HQ never bother

smithsally884 · 06/11/2018 08:47

I Think it's because Brexit threads are always about People pushing their agenda rather than genuinely wanting to discuss

SilverySurfer · 06/11/2018 10:04

Why do they need to be moved to the Brexit section

I would have thought it was obvious - a thread about Brexit belongs on the Brexit Board and it keeps all the moaning in one place.

Last time I checked there weren't boards for the subjects listed in the OP.

TristanDaCunha · 06/11/2018 10:06

I don't agree. When Brexit threads are left in AIBU there is some really interesting discussion. It's the ones who are keen to report and get it shifted who are trying to push their agenda.

Satsumaeater · 06/11/2018 10:07

Yes there are, I regularly see employment threads that could be on the employment boards, where to buy sanitary towels could be on any number of boards, recommendations for a weekend away can go in the travel section. Just to name a few examples.

No need to hide away Brexit discussions. Actually I started one which did stay in AIBU.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 06/11/2018 10:07

I want to know why there are so many Trump threads (ongoing it seems) in AIBU (or might be Chat) on the board personally . Is Politics not a better spot for them ?

gamerchick · 06/11/2018 10:08

Pretty much. They're all exactly the same and end up the same way.
