I was really hoping to hear from other people who struggle to throw away odd socks even when their pair has been missing for months.

I think it's often if everyone is in agreement that the OP is a dickhead then they can at least add a couple of responses disagreeing.

A socks thread! Perfect. I was looking for somewhere to ask about this and didn't want to start a thread because it's so trivial.

Was going for a walk with a friend, when I was putting my shoes on she noticed my liner socks. Said she couldn't wear them because they slip down inside her shoes and get scrunched up under her foot. I said I'd had that but had found this brand didn't do that. I'd just bought a new pack of 5 so asked if she would like a pair to try? She did.

Later I went out for dinner with DH, we came home to find a ziplock bag on the doorstep containing the socks she'd worn along with a note saying: "Thanks for letting me borrow the socks. Really like them so I went and bought a couple of packs for myself this afternoon."

TBH I really didn't expect/want them back but AIBU to think she should have returned them at least washed or, preferably, a brand new unworn pair from one of her packs to replace the brand new unworn pair I gave her?
