Should I say anything?

My very DSIL is on holiday with DBIL (DHs B) in Thailand. They send us updates via watsap from every holiday (they mean well, its my fault I'm jealous! Wink)
However the latest pics are of them riding elephants. And with baby elephants
So- I know that this is really cruel. It's a horrible thing for them to do but they are really naive and won't have thought the animals are suffering.
Should I say anything in my watsap reply? My thinking is i don't want to be a bitch and make them feel guilty when they've already finished it but also I want them to be aware of the suffering they're contributing to. And to think twice before they book their next excursion

Should I say anything and if so... what?!

No point now it's done, I wouldn't acknowledge it though

Haberpop · 02/11/2018 15:45

I wouldn't via Whatsapp because I don't think there is a way I could say it that didn't sound like sour grapes but I would bring it up in conversation next time I was face to face with them.

If you say nothing you will miss a prime virtue signalling opportunity

Lamona · 02/11/2018 15:48

Sorry i should have said I work with animal welfare charities. So its not virtue signalling (unless my whole career is)

I've just had a similar thing with my friend posting pictures on FB of her and her family at Sea World in Orlando. I chose to ignore it and didn't like or comment on any of her photos there.

I've been to Thailand. Most of the elephant places are horrible, but some aren't. I spent ages researching different ones, and paid extra to go to a charity where you can ride the elephants but also where you learn about them and what they do. There were a lot of restrictions on this place, set numbers etc.
Don't jump to conclusions or confront them about it. If you are going to raise it, do it in a curious what place did you use tone.
Most Elephant places are abusive, but not all are. At the moment you don't know which sort they went to.
