Delivery driver just had a dump at my house!

AIBU? I've just had some furniture delivered and the first thing the guy said was, 'Can I use your loo?' I didn't want him to but felt that I couldn't refuse so I reluctantly said yes. He was in there for ages. He's had a smelly dump. It fucking stinks. I could have cried. He then bought the furniture in and I've just had to go and clean the toilet. I'm disgusted.

FFS. I thought you were going to say he had a dump at your doorstep. I'd DEFINITELY want the delivery charge refunded in that case.

But a) It's a loo and b) shit stinks. Yes, even yours and your family's.

He'd probably been in his delivery van for hours, on a tight schedule and with no opportunity to stop and find a loo.

YABU. Get a grip.

Thisnamechanger · 02/11/2018 13:42

Ugh no I don't have a toilet brush, I think they are revolting

How in the name of arse is he supposed to clean up after then?

This thread is insane. Open a window and get a grip!

Topseyt · 02/11/2018 13:42

So, are you happy to have visitors to your home? Do family or friends ever stay? Don't you understand that they could well need to poo during their time with you, or are you a "no-pooing" household, if you think that anyone would believe that.

Sorry, but you are talking shit. Pun intended.

dontalltalkatonce · 02/11/2018 13:43

Lesson learned. It's only on MN that everyone thinks you should be running a public toilet in your home. I'd call and complain that he made a mess. That's not on in a client's house.

HappilyHarridan · 02/11/2018 13:43

You are being silly and unreasonable. Try to move on from this. It was just a shit in a toilet.

Onatreebyariver · 02/11/2018 13:43

If he just did a poo then YABU. Poor man, everyone has to use the toilet and if you need to go you need to go

If left smears behind in the loo and didn't clean them then that is disgusting.

WitchesHatRim · 02/11/2018 13:43

I think a lot of people have very low hygiene standards

I think your reaction is way OTT

HolyMountain · 02/11/2018 13:44

OP, Hinting that those of us who don’t have a problem with the delivery man using the loo have low hygiene standards , as you well know.

ElsieMc · 02/11/2018 13:45

I am completely ridiculous and totally sympathise op. Where I live, I would have directed him to nearby public loos. This attitude comes from a carpet fitter who did such a gigantic poo, it blocked my toilet and he left the huge turd in there sort of wedged in. No matter how much I flushed, it remained. I never used that company again.

As my dd's employer used to say, when she was a waitress and people asked to use his loo on passing, feel free to take your pee, but take no. 2's home with you.

WitsEnd2018 · 02/11/2018 13:45

Friends and family are welcome to poo at my house but not randoms

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 13:45

Witsend. You’re not being goady in the slightest don’t worry. YANBU as I would be exactly the same.

Fine if others are happy for a random stranger to knock on their door and ask to use their facilities. For me it’s a no and I don’t care if others don’t agree, it’s my house, my rules.

BakedBeans47 · 02/11/2018 13:45

I’m sorry but it is disgusting to not only stink out someone else’s toilet and leave a mess that requires cleaning up. Ok he may not have been able to help needing a shit but leaving the toilet dirty is not on.

ilovesooty · 02/11/2018 13:46

My home is my nest

Oh please. Perhaps your next move will be to suggest people breathe elsewhere.

DarlingNikita · 02/11/2018 13:46

It's only on MN that everyone thinks you should be running a public toilet in your home.

Behave. If it was a public toilet she'd have charged 20p, there'd have been graffiti on the back of the door and someone would have trodden paper towels into a soggy mess on the floor.

Oirobnooo · 02/11/2018 13:46

I have been on Mumsnet on and off for around 10 years and this is comfortably the most hilarious thing I have ever read. On the assumption that you meant it to be: immeasurably huge kudos

WitsEnd2018 · 02/11/2018 13:46

Thank goodness his poo did not get stuck!

OP posts:
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/11/2018 13:46

Presumably your poo smells of violets.
Poor bloke.

Topseyt · 02/11/2018 13:47

So allowing someone to shit in a toilet is having low hygiene standards? Hmm

WitchesHatRim · 02/11/2018 13:47

I would have directed him to nearby public loos.

Where are all these magical public loos?

Pursefirst · 02/11/2018 13:47

Am bemused at those saying he should have cleaned the loo. With what?? In the absence of a toilet brush, what was he supposed to do? Use OPs blasted precious hand-towel that is no doubt being boiled to ribbons as we speak??

FredFlinstoneMadeOfBones · 02/11/2018 13:47

He didn't make a mess he pooed in the toilet after being given permission to use it! He was in her home anyway it wasn't a random person off the street!

mintyfresh00 · 02/11/2018 13:47

This is hilarious 😂
You obviously have a 'thing' about hygiene and poo, making you react somewhat excessively. My mum is the same actually.
But try and keep this in perspective maybe, it's hardly the worst thing in the world.

Thisnamechanger · 02/11/2018 13:47

Friends and family are welcome to poo at my house but not randoms

You should get that embroidered on a doormat

WitsEnd2018 · 02/11/2018 13:48

I didn't mean for it to be funny, I just needed to offload. Omg I still feel sick

So allowing someone to shit in a toilet is having low hygiene standards?

Apparently so *Topseyt8. Everyday's a schoolday here on MN!
