Delivery driver just had a dump at my house!

AIBU? I've just had some furniture delivered and the first thing the guy said was, 'Can I use your loo?' I didn't want him to but felt that I couldn't refuse so I reluctantly said yes. He was in there for ages. He's had a smelly dump. It fucking stinks. I could have cried. He then bought the furniture in and I've just had to go and clean the toilet. I'm disgusted.

I can't believe so many people would be happy for a stranger to do a smelly shit in their toilet!

LightastheBreeze · 02/11/2018 21:23

I didn’t realise OP didn’t have a toilet brush, how horrible for the poor chap to do a skiddy shit and find no brush to deal with it

RaymondinaReddington · 02/11/2018 21:24

This would piss me off. It is perfectly possible to do a really smelly poo, flush immediately even before wiping, reflush after wiping, open the window and barely leave a trace. Some people just seem to take delight in not doing this and making as much of a stink as possible. Really pisses me off. You are not alone OP.

SputnikBear · 02/11/2018 21:26

I can’t believe so many people would happily let an unexpected stranger into their house at all. It’s like they haven’t read any of the news stories about people being robbed by randoms who asked to use the toilet. There was one in Paisley literally about six weeks ago.

Welshheart · 02/11/2018 21:27

Lol. This is still going?! A Lot of extremely sensitive OTT types about for sure! Grin

Get over it already & be thankful you don't have to deal with Real problems..

LightastheBreeze · 02/11/2018 21:27

He was an expected delivery man so not really just a random off the street

RaymondinaReddington · 02/11/2018 21:28

Presumably he could have used toilet paper. Or if it was below the water line just reflushed.
A friend of an ex did some building work for us and used to delight in taking a smelly poo, sit on it without flushing to let it ferment a bit and then finally vacate the bathroom leaving the door open with window shut. He took pride in doing this in other people’s houses to disgust them. What a catch.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2018 21:28

It's not about being happy about it, it's just accepting that somebody doing something for you at your house might just need to use your toilet. That's about it really.

Cressida89 · 02/11/2018 21:32

In real life, if you complained to your best friend that a random delivery man had had a stinky shit in your loo, she'd agree it was gross.

On MN he's suddenly got health issues, was undoubtedly "mortified", you need to have a little "humanity"... Grin

Most of us in our working lives have to regulate when we poo. I can't just go when I want! Why are delivery men so special?!

I am weird about poo, like OP. I recognise this. But the trouble is, if you do have obsessive tendencies, it can be hard to work out what's hygienic and what's not by "normal" standards - because we do have some fairly arbitrary rules on this. For example, it's perfectly ok to have yr dog, who's just taken a shit, sit in yr house, but it's unacceptable to expect someone to use a wodge of toilet roll to wipe some shit off the side of an otherwise pristine
toilet pan - the same shit that they've just been wiping off their arse... It's hard for people who obsess about germs not to, well, lool at situations in detail and analyse them for what they are, not just in terms of the MN consensus.

LaurieMarlow · 02/11/2018 21:37

HRTFT but it's mean to not supply a loo brush and then bitch because someone leaves skid marks.

You've got to give people the tools.

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 21:41

Light as the breeze. But lots of posters on here have been saying exactly that...the OP should show empathy to anyone who knocks on her door asking to use her toilet as they could have health issues and no other way of using a toilet, been driving all day and it’s not fair on them etc etc.

Nope, you shouldn’t let anyone into your home if you don’t feel comfortable with it.

BumDisease · 02/11/2018 21:44

He didn't just randomly stop and knock on her door though, did he? Or was he circling around in his van searching for the perfect victim whose toilet he could violate?

tectonicplates · 02/11/2018 21:46

In real life, if you complained to your best friend that a random delivery man had had a stinky shit in your loo, she'd agree it was gross.

Wrong. In real life, normal people would never even have the conversation in the first place.

if you do have obsessive tendencies, it can be hard to work out what's hygienic and what's not by "normal" standards

You're not normal. HTH.

GreyGiraffespointyhat · 02/11/2018 21:48

Why didn’t you just say no! Someone asked me once and I said my daughter was in there so sorry but no the bathrooms already being used

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2018 21:49

Yeah I wouldn't be discussing delivery man's poo with my best friends, they would be Confused and think I had lost the plot.

LaurieMarlow · 02/11/2018 21:50

the OP should show empathy to anyone who knocks on her door asking to use her toilet

He was already in her house, delivering furniture

Cressida89 · 02/11/2018 21:51

@tectonicplates

You're not normal

I know! Hence I said i was weird. Any reason you need to be so unpleasant though? Was I rude to you?

And some people might well have that conversation. How would you know?!

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 21:53

Laurie. I know that, my point is that the thread opened up beyond that and people were saying that the OP should be empathetic to people who drive all day, can’t find a public toilet etc etc.

If that’s the case why would they turn away any delivery driver, lorry driver etc who knocked on their door?

Or is the expected empathy only reserved for some people? Hmm

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 21:56

Cressida. I don’t see anything abnormal in what you’ve said at all. We all have different hygiene standards and not wanting a total stranger to use your home in a way that makes you uncomfortabkr is absolutely fine.

I would also most definitely tell my best friends about it as they’d be as horrified as me! Grin

Boohissmiss · 02/11/2018 21:56

I think the house will have to be sold now . It will just never be the same .

tectonicplates · 02/11/2018 21:57

@Cressida89 Yes. Because I'm tired of these threads full of neurotic people. And I would know because literally nobody has ever had such a conversation with me, because it just isn't a normal conversation.

Norugratsatall · 02/11/2018 21:57

Oh man......this thread! 🤣🤢

Dorsetdays · 02/11/2018 22:00

Tectonic. Yes totally neurotic to not want total strangers in my home. Fine if you’re happy to let anyone in your home to use your facilities, I’m not and thats also ok.

PortiaCastis · 02/11/2018 22:02

But the crapping man delivered some furniture so he wasn't random

Cressida89 · 02/11/2018 22:03

With respect, tectonic, just because it's never come up in conversation with you , it doesn't follow that no one would have that conversation EVER. In fact, I'd go as far as to say I'd put money on it having happened.

Anyway, I get that, occasionally, a delivery man might have no option but to stink out someone's house. But mostly there are other options. Most people can wait.
