Following on from the hilarious thread by AiryFairyUnicornRainbow about the shittest wedding gifts they had been given, what was your best?

We said no gifts but DH's best mate is stupidly rich and bought us crates of champagne. We live overseas and couldn't take it back with us after the wedding so had an impromptu party in my Mum's garden the next night. Brilliant memories!

The empty bottles of Veuve Cliquot are still lined up on her garden wall against her fence to this day 🍾

Venison got £20k from a long lost Uncle- brilliant!

My siblings made us a hope chest and it is the most thoughtful, beautiful thing. I also got an exquisite hand-sewn quilt from my bridesmaid’s mother which has one of our readings embroidered round the edge and then each square has a different embroidered picture relating to us (e.g. the cottage where we got engaged, the Church we were married, scales of justice because I am a lawyer, a Labour rose for my husband, etc). It is so beautifully made and personal and thoughtful.

Blanched- what lovely, thoughtful gifts! Your comment reminded me that DM also had a quilt made for us and is embroidered with symbols and dates that are meaningful. It's not suitable for a bed and I always meant to hang it but didn't know how to so it's still stored in the box. I'll sort that this wknd

A dishwashr from my mum. Dh would never have thought we needed one. We were both the kind of people who wash up once a week whether we need to or not. The dishwasher saved ds from semi-permanent food poisoning.

A brand new BMW 5 series, sadly sold it 3 years later as it wouldn’t fit all the children after they arrived

Dishwasher and a 5 Series Beemer. Both fabulous in their own right!
