AIBU to be a bit sceptical about whether these really work or not?

My body isn't looking great 10 days PP and someone suggested one of these to me...

Anyone any experience/opinions?

I have got one to use though need the baby to come first before can report back.

I know they're widely used on the continent and are meant to be good for helping to hold e.g. slightly separated muscles back together so they heal correctly, and also help things generally shrink back. The same principle of postnatal wrapping with fabric around the middle seems to be used in lots of traditional cultures too, so it's worth a go imo.

I think you are supposed to use them from quite soon after the birth to be most effective though?

@pandarific oh really?

My body is far from healed 10 days PP... jelly belly!

Worth a go op! Smile Congratulations on your baby - jealous, mine is squatting.

I've seen some stuff on YouTube about wrapping with fabric if you wanted to test out how it feels before buying one, but I've seen lots on amazon too etc.

I bought one in desperation about three months PP, as I have separated stomach muscles which meant I still looked pregnant. They are great if you have to go somewhere and feel a bit self conscious - even just to lunch or to see pre-baby friends - but you have to be really careful that your stomach muscles don’t rely on them as they can actually get weaker. Mine made my waste shrink right back down but then as soon as I stopped wearing it, everything shot back out worse than ever and I got back ache! But I am quite an extreme case... in summary it was worth it for short bursts of time.

I used one after all three of mine and although I found it uncomfortable until I got used to it, it definitely helped me-especially after no.3 which was a c-section.

I found that it made me feel more ‘together’ if that makes any sense?! It held all the loose stuff in! I wore it for a few months as far as I can remember and my tummy is now pretty much back to how it was pre-children. Maybe that’s due to the hurdle, maybe it would be that way anyway, but I felt better with it on.

Girdle not hurdle. Definitely no hurdles!

I got one but I’m not sure it was that effective. Tbh I was back in my jeans pretty quickly (piled on the weight since I went back to work Sad) but I liked the feel of it. Everything felt a bit empty and flappy so it was just nice to feel held in a bit.
