AIBU to think that Naga Munchetty would be a nightmare to work with?

I really enjoy watching BBC News in the morning and I like most of the presenters. However, Naga seems to just miss the target of “banter”. She seems to make ill-timed remarks to her colleagues who are then uncomfortable and don’t seem to know how to respond to her. My heart sinks when she’s on.

She is lovely !!

Tahani · 01/11/2018 08:11

I don't like Naga, I think she's cocky (like pp) and yes I would think the same if she was a he - it's got fuck all to do with her being a woman.

I like Louise and Steph and Charlie

Its nice to read that Naga is nice in real life though. It makes a difference in how you see then

longwayoff · 01/11/2018 08:12

I've no complaints about any of them although am particularly fond of Steph, a proper Viking from the North. Apparently, she gets loads of abuse from nutters because of her accent? Loons. Will never forget the Wife Carrying Contest some years ago - a local contest somewhere where first man to carry his wife x number of yards wins something - in which she slung the small (but tenacious) sports reporter over her shoulder and headed for the finishing line. No problem with Naga although she looks as if her patience is sorely tested at times.

Kazzyhoward · 01/11/2018 08:13

I only like Naga and the blonde older woman (can't remember her name) - at least they have personality and aren't thick!

I can't stand Charlie, Steph nor Sally - no personalities, no brains, and would be lost without the autocue, yet they still insist on making everything about themselves and telling silly anecdotes.

bellabasset · 01/11/2018 08:20

I think one of the best things about Naga is her facial expressions. Highly intelligent she is the pole opposite from Steph yet they get on well.

Not keen on Dan as much, miss Bill. Like Louise, her and Charlie were good together. Steph is better on programmes like Watchdog where her physical energy and enthusiasm make her a good match for Matt Allwright and with Nikki Fox are a really brilliant combination.

Urchinella · 01/11/2018 08:24

Love Naga, character just bursts out of her.

Chucky16 · 01/11/2018 08:25

I don’t like her either. Think she likes to score points over colleagues.

sollyfromsurrey · 01/11/2018 08:43

Naga can be really dry and that can be entertaining but she is VERY disparaging of other people's opinions if they differ from hers. She dismisses other people's opinions in quite a patronising way. I don't think that is because she is a strong or confident woman. You can be strong and hold opinions without dismissing other people's opinions and leaving them feeling small.

BigFatGoalie · 01/11/2018 08:45

I like the guy who fell into the pool when interviewing the Olympic swimmers in Brazil..Grin

OatsBeansBarley · 01/11/2018 08:48

Yes she's dismissive and rude at times and her humour is often of the snarky variety : which can work if you are super smart but then she seems to miss jokes so she comes across as slightly gauche at times.

I try not to watch more than carol's weather forecast.

ReverseTheFerret · 01/11/2018 08:50

Naga and Steph as the dream team for Breakfast telly.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 01/11/2018 08:51

Loved Steph hosting HIGNFY last week - really funny.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 01/11/2018 08:52

She strikes me as being very professional and a definite fully paid up member of the no shit squad.

I used to like Steph, but I do feel that’s she’s on the border of becoming a parody of herself - be proud of your roots but don’t end up being a “professional northerner”.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 01/11/2018 08:53

I've met her several times. She is very funny and bright but doesn't suffer fools gladly.
She is driven and confident but you have to be in her line of work.
She gets a lot of racial online abuse and has no hesitation in telling them to fuck off (in slightly less sweary words)

OatsBeansBarley · 01/11/2018 08:54

Having said that in should add that the worst breakfast host / potential colleague evah has to be Piers Morgan!

danceintime · 01/11/2018 08:54

She cracked me up the other morning during s live broadcast to Stonehenge an awfully dismal band were playing in the rain , it cut back to the audio and caught her looking horrified she then quickly looked away from the camera at was stifling a laugh 😂

Ladymargarethall · 01/11/2018 08:55

Agree about Steph on HIGNFY. DH and I laughed out loud quite a few times. Best one for ages.

Cally62 · 01/11/2018 09:05

WipsGlitter I think she plays golf as well as she dancers.

Can't stand her. Can't stand her know it all attitude.
Whatever the subject she's been there, done that.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 01/11/2018 09:07

She plays golf pretty well.
Single figure handicap I believe

3TresTrois · 01/11/2018 09:13

I like her! Me and DH share a crush on her, in fact Grin.

She’s smart, funny, gorgeous and probably a bit wasted on the banality of breakfast TV.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 01/11/2018 09:14

I like Naga, I think her bluntness is her USP! That said, if I worked with her I'd be a teeny bit in awe & possibly occasionally not get her humour - but I think she's great fun.

I loathe Steph McGovern though. She's got the most annoying voice (I have northern family so i'm not anti-accent, just anti-her) and mannerisms in the world and always seems forced to me. Some RP, public speaking training to control volume, pitch and emotion and training in how to not gurn like an idiot wouldn't go a miss.

DaffoDeffo · 01/11/2018 09:16

I also think she's absolutely wonderful and I love her style

Disfordarkchocolate · 01/11/2018 09:18

She's super smart and happy to press on awkward issues when others fluff over them. By for the best at the serious stuff. Love Steph too, she's very knowledgeable about industry and does great work encouraging girls to think about this as a work option.

Tinkobell · 01/11/2018 09:22

Tbh i struggle with all the BBC couch potatoes first thing in the morning. On the rare ocassion I've tuned in, it's like watching a bunch of gossiping colleagues on an extended lunch break and I find myself shouting "what about the fucking news story?"....so I watch Sky now.
Dan Walker in particular is an utter tit, adamant on every chat being about him, his childhood reminiscences, can't bear him!

TheDodgyDunnyOfDoom · 01/11/2018 09:22

I think Naga is insufferably smug and Charlie would love to be anywhere else but wants the money. I wish they could split Steff McGovern into five and just have her do everything. She is brilliant.
