Inspired by the childhood TV programme thread....

I loved the Unigate milk advert and the 'Humphreys' on the march to find it!

Daddy or Chips...

Pea and Ham from a chicken.....

ShangriLaLaLa · 01/11/2018 07:43

Toddlepod - I was just coming on to say the Dunlop Venus in Furs ad. Mesmerising to the young me.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 01/11/2018 07:47

My favorite is the Irish ad for electricity, with Dusty Springfield singing "I think I'm going back".

Spankyoumuchly · 01/11/2018 07:51

Pot Noodle the slag of all snacks.

Spankyoumuchly · 01/11/2018 07:53

I forgot the cravendale, if cats had thumbs.

Thirtyrock39 · 01/11/2018 07:57

Flat Eric one with the gopher leaning out of the white van
All the classic 90s ones with great songs such as stiltskin 'inside' and nick Kamen in the laundrette
But my fave of all is really corny but makes me cry it's a quality street or roses one with a lollipop lady shows her day in day out helping kids across the road and one day the little boy gives her a box of chocolates - gets me every time !

Ladymargarethall · 01/11/2018 07:57

Lostonthewestway snap. You can still watch it on you tube.
I also love the Flash one where the dog asks where all the mud has gone (not the current one).

Steala · 01/11/2018 08:07

The JL one when the boy is desperate for Christmas Day to come so he can give his present to his parents.

I also really liked the Asda one of the mum feverishly busy in the run up to Christmas ( ruined by the last line where she finally sits down and is asked what's for tea). I love Christmas and the prep and anticipation and that advert encapsulates it nicely for me.

Sowhatifidosnore · 01/11/2018 08:19

UmBongo!

Alltheprettyseahorses · 01/11/2018 08:22

I used to love the gorgeous Judderman adverts. And one that showed various life highlights from a woman taking a pregnancy test to the baby being 1. Oh, and one with a black horse where it pulled a plough, fought in a war and nuzzled a woman in a wheelchair.

redfragglebiker · 01/11/2018 08:23

Douglas the lurpak man with his little trombone!

RuthiePe · 01/11/2018 08:59

One of the continuity adverts which the announcers talk over. It was a BBC one with a cartoon slug in a coat and she said in a really boring voice "it was so cold I had to wear my outdoor coat indoors". We still say that now.

"I vont a viscount. But I am a prince!"
I had a viscount the other day. They are not a nice as I remember.

The red car and the blue car. I still know all the words.

RuthiePe · 01/11/2018 09:01

@Steala - when the JL ad came on, DH and I looked at each other and said "there's a head in that box".

RuthiePe · 01/11/2018 09:06

@misshopey - person in the back seat seat on the right - guess they got a bit sick between takes as sometimes they are therr, sometimes they aren't!

beenandgoneandbackagain · 01/11/2018 09:10

Mumsnetters - please help.

There was an advert for a soft drink which had a vaguely tropical flavour, and the advert featured a gorgeous Tik Tok* style model, I think doing a bit of robotic dancing? It was released in the mid 80s.

  • for those who don't recall Tik Tok it's basically a bloke with great cheekbones and lots of blusher, one of my favourite male 80s looks.
LesLavandes · 01/11/2018 09:19

'Because the lady loves, Milk Tray'.... always had me in stitches

DanSullivan · 01/11/2018 09:32

I loved the Sainsbury’s Christmas advert from 2014, with the Christmas truce and the football match.

As a child I liked the chewing gum advert with the man and woman on the bus. One of them tore a strip of gum in half and handed it to the other. Then the woman got off the bus and the man looked sadly at his half piece of gum, until she came back and joined it with his. It was very American and seemed very sexy and glamorous!

SilverySurfer · 01/11/2018 09:32

8DaysAWeek
The john Lewis Christmas advert with the boxer on the trampoline

Sunday Dinner:
Adult son: "Pass the gravy, Dad"
Granny: "He's not your Dad - we never knew who your Dad was...."
Awkward silence.

Rather bizarrely this was for ice cream.

carpetrunner · 01/11/2018 09:57

The old Jacobs club biscuit ads. As a dc we used to sing this in the playground (extremely exciting dc we were ha) brings back fond memories

Aftereights91 · 01/11/2018 09:59

My all time favourite is from the 90s and was for a car brand I can't remember which one. Little boy and girl swimming in the sea and a shark comes and the boy pushes her away, then they meet up as adults and he shows her his scars, and had the song true colours playing. Absolutely loved that as a kid

Notquiteagandt · 01/11/2018 10:08

Flat eric for levi. Such an ear worm.

scrivette · 01/11/2018 10:11

Child of the 80's here so lots of these are my favourites.

Also, one for Lucozade that must have been mid 90's with the Viz characters 2 fat slags and the fit looking man. I can't remember much, just him opening the fridge at the end and saying something like 'it's mine'. (Wouldn't be allowed now!)

ScrambledSmegs · 01/11/2018 10:22

Shake n Vac, the dancing and singing woman. My goodness she loved vacuuming.

LannieDuck · 01/11/2018 10:26

The red car and the blue car had a race. Milky way!

Me too! :) I can still sing the entire jingle.
