Ikea fecking screws...

I am def not being U. Flippin' Ikea has decided in it's great wisdom to put a dob of blue paint on each of it's screws now.. Hmm So here I am, trying to tighten the fuckers to build my new office chair & I can barely turn them. The paint is well into the grooves of the screws, rendering them almost impossible to do up.. Arghhhh. Please tell me I'm not the only one, & if you have any handy tips I'd be grateful..

Oh dear, just had a bed and wardrobe from them and thankfully no blue paint

Hey!

i know this is an old thread, but I came across it when I was trying to find the answer to this myself.

so it turns out that the blue paint helps the screws to stay put (to fit better and not loosen over-time).

if you are using an allen key (a.k.a hex key), you could use an extender (maybe just a thin strong metal tube!) to reduce the effort you have to exert to turn the screw. (Not recommending the product in the attached image… was the result of a random google search as an example!)

hope this helps someone else (like me!) who is searching for the explanation & work-around!

cheers!
