AIBU?

Missed period, sore boobs, mood swings

DH had a vasectomy 4 years ago.

A couple of weeks ago I had extremely sore nipples, like I have never had before. I joked with DH that maybe I was pregnant (which obviously we thought is impossible) but now my period is 3 days late. And I am always bang on, I track it on an app and it's never been wrong. I took a test this morning because I just don't understand these symptoms (have also been quite moody) which is negative.

Could this just be a bit of a strange PMT month?

AIBU to be quite concerned that I actually am pregnant and that somehow the vasectomy has failed?

Vasectomies fail, not all the time but it’s not hugely rare either, it’s entirely possible you’re pregnant.

How old are you? Could you be perimenopausal?

My brother had a vasectomy that failed. Or, rather, it worked; he went back and got tested and everything, but then it repaired itself. It was 2 or 3 years later. My niece just turned 10 last week.

I’m 33, is that too young to be perimenopausal? DH refuses to believe it could be the case although I’ll test again in a few days if no period comes. Steff - that’s scary!

Yes that is a bit young OP.

It’s not impossible but it’s young. Much more likely that the vasectomy hasn’t held. I think test again.

likely just you ovulated late and period will be late

if you have enough symptoms to notice then it should be easily picked up by a pregnancy test so my vote is 'something else'

I had a scare around the same age. It was nothing. I had 1 period which was 11 days late and I never found out why. Since then they have been sometimes correct and sometimes 1-2 days out in either direction.

Thanks, that’s reassuring. I’ll wait a few days then do another test I think. Boobs are so achy!!

Have you been ill or anything mid month? That has been known to mess with my cycle in the past.

The weirdly sore boobs do definitely sound like they could be a pregnancy symptom, however. What kind of test did you use?

Clear Blue are unreliable in early pregnancy, I got negatives on Clear Blue despite being two weeks late, was only when I did a different brand (think it was a Tesco one) that I got a positive.

Op, do you already have children? I'm just wondering this as to how you're signalling your symptoms could be from being pregnant? As if you experienced this with a previous pregnancy? I have pmt symptoms like this every month but I cannot pinpoint my period to the exact day, never have been able to so three days later than my average cycle means nothing to me. I also got the same symptoms when I was pregnant too. I thought all tests were quite accurate regardless of the cost as don't they detect the hormone HTC or something like that if you're pregnant that aren't otherwise there?

I do yes, and with my pregnancies in the beginning I got very spotty and very tired, neither of which I am experiencing now, plus of course the missed period and I am guessing sore boobs ( can’t remember) the nipple soreness I have had the past couple of weeks, well I don’t remember anything like it before.
3 days late, well 4 now is very off for me, like I said I track it on an app and it’s never been wrong, I’m like clockwork!
No idea about the tests tbh. I didn’t buy it because it was the most expensive, just I thought it was the most recommended or something - I’ve been out the game a while!

Joanne sorry to hear that. I have been doing a lot of googling about that this morning.

Clearblue is the worst brand! Go for first response ones, not exactly cheap either but they are the best. Let us know how you get on!

I finally got my period on Sunday, it came on v fast and was v heavy, which my normal ones aren't. Not too sure why it happened tbh!

Ah OK. Panic over then? I find sometimes late periods are more severe think it's just a build up. Hope you're well. Flowers
