Hi all, I'm a teacher in an FE college, days away from finishing Mat leave and really don't want to go back. I'm strongly considering leaving teaching but feel a bit stuck.

To those of you that have left teaching what have you gone on to do?

Sorry I know this probably isn't alot of help but I work as support in education and I was absolutely dreading going back after my maternity leave. At best, I was going to ride out the 12 weeks just to get my maternity pay, then hand in my notice.

However after the first week back I started to get back into the job and routine of kids/work and really started to enjoy using my brain and having adult conversation again. Nearly 10 years on I'm still there (and loving the holidays!).

It is helpful thank you. I know once I'm back it will be ok, and when I close my door and teach, I love it. But in FE we teach until 5 and don't get holidays, instead annual leave, so I can't even console myself with the typical "benefits" of education. I also don't know if I can handle working the expected hours, though I'm going back part time, the workload already feels as though it will be excessive.

I suppose I just feel a bit lost and stuck
