I started a new job 3 weeks ago. And today is payday. But ive not been paid. All my direct debits are due to come out tomorrow and ive not got enough money in to cover them  should i of expected today to be paid if i started work 3 weeks ago? My manager is on holiday with her family. So feel awful messaging her but cant go without money.

You may well have missed pay cut off at the start of the month and won't be paid until next month if so. My company (large) has pay cut off on around the 6th, which I've always thought was pretty harsh, and made for a difficult month when I first started! I was then paid almost double the following month. Sorry for you though, I hate money worries

I would definitely contact her.

Ive message her but heard nothing back yet. Im really hoping it gets sorted. Id be stuck if i had to wait till the end of November 

I'd ask for an advance on your wages if you are told you have to wait. could you call?

I've still not heard anything. Im going to call tomorrow. Thank you everyone for advice.

Just checked my online banking and I've been paid  my manager still never replied to me so whether it was a mistake and my message reminded her or payment just goes in late im not sure but will talk to her about it to confirm. Thanks again everyone 

Good to hear you've gotten paid OP. Always speak up if unsure, some companies can and will take the piss if they want to! Hate when an employer needs to be reminded to pay up. Not like you need reminding to work.

ime the bank would call me if money wasnt coming in, they can see it is due to come in

Your contact reminded her. If you do a payment in advance with a value date of X, it will be in the account at the start of the day on ‘X’ - the difference is when your bank updates their BACS information. Banks will do it between midnight and 7am.

As you received it late in the day that would’ve been a one-off same day payment.

I’ve never known a bank to call because they’re ‘expecting’ you to get funds and you haven’t - they do sometimes contact you if you’re about to go overdrawn and ask you to deposit cleared funds.

I'm glad you've been paid, it's horrible waiting and wondering.
