College interview versus parade

Help!
DS has an interview on Thursday evening for a college place for year 12.
He has just been chosen as a key part in his cadets remembrance parade. He really wants to do this but has to attend all sessions up to the date in order to do so.

Whbu to cancel the college interview?
Will they think bad at such short notice?
Should I make him go to the college interview instead ?

Tell him to call the college and ask to rearrange and explain the reason. That will give a good impression because a) he’s mature enough to ring them himself, and b) he’s involved in a fantastic extracurricular opportunity.

Either way though, I don’t think the college will have a problem with him rearranging if he calls and explains the valid reason.

I am a tutor and teacher in a post 16 college, and this wouldn't be a problem for us with admissions - particularly if he contacted us himself to let us know.
Enrichment and students who engage in this sort of activity are very desirable at post 16

Agree with him calling himself and his spot in an important part of a community event would look great. If he's thinking about uni this is the kind of thing to note down for his personal statement!
