Do you attend a plea hearing?

Sorry, posting for traffic. Someone close has been charged with several offences. I have cut contact with them as some of this is very personal to me. I am a formal witness to their case though. They have been formally charged now.
Their plea hearing is next month. It says on my witness letter that I don’t need to attend.

Part of me doesn’t want to. The crown court is 1.5hrs from me. I suspect the hearing will be all of 15minutes and that’s that. They might bring family to support them (who I don’t wish to see).

On the other hand, I need to hear their plea from them. I also suspect they will say not guilty to some of the charges and it will be dragged to court. This gives me a chance to see the court (very anxious about being called as a witness). Also feeling the need to clap eyes on them again. If they plea guilty it will give me some closure.

Would you go? Have you? Is it literally 5minutes then over? Am I likely to wait in the same room as them? What happens?

Sorry for all the questions.

It won’t take long at all and it might give you an idea of what to expect so it might be worth the trip for reassurance.

Hope you’re ok Flowers
