To ask if you have perfect teeth?

BeeMyBaby · 28/10/2018 22:29

And by perfect I mean no fillings or pain, not how white or straight they are.

I know of a woman with two children in her forties with no fillings.

I was very proud of my teeth but got a surface filling at 29 when pregnant with my 3rd child (relevant because pregnancy can weaken your teeth), and at 31 i have been told that I have brushed my teeth so hard that I now have receding gums causing me daily pain (particularly on the tooth that had the surface filling), so the nerve is now almost showing and anything that touches it is sore.

I just guess I wanted to know if everyone else had great teeth and I was going to end up being the only woman my age with their teeth falling out or actually it's pretty standard for your teeth to go downhill when you are over 30?

I'm 40, two DC, one filling which I got as a child, no other dental work. Have all my teeth, including wisdom, and they're very straight and strong.

I've always brushed regularly but I've never flossed as I can't be arsed, and I once went 19 years without seeing a dentist. When I did, he couldn't believe I didn't need any work, and credited my growing up in the north east where the fluoride content in the water is higher.

Villanelle123 · 28/10/2018 23:16

26 and receding gums :(
I’m a scrubber and recently bought a soft toothbrush to see if it helps - haven’t managed to see the dentist yet.

I cry when they do the scale and polish because my gums are so painful Haloween Sad

I feel your pain Flowers

My teeth were perfect until I was 30, then I had a transplant and the high doses of steroids I needed to keep rejection at bay have destroyed my teeth. I have 2 - soon to be 3 - crowns and 2 - soon to be 3 - fillings. I'm 37.

My DSis never took care of her teeth and she's in serious need of dental work at 30. She needs new veneers on chipped teeth, braces again and is possibly going to lose a few in the process, so may need implants. The cost isn't an issue, but she's terrified of anything medical. I have root canals without anaesthetic. We're opposite ends of the spectrum.

Pebblespony · 28/10/2018 23:18

I'm 36 and have no fillings. I like fizzy drinks and sugary stuff, never gloss and sometimes don't brush properly. All genetics in my case I reckon.

Pebblespony · 28/10/2018 23:18

*floss.

Screamingontheinside · 28/10/2018 23:20

I’m 40 with no fillings, had teeth removed when I was a child as were overcrowded. I also had a brace, but touch wood no real issues apart from sensitive now and again. Go every 6 months for a checkup and just have them cleaned.

Screamingontheinside · 28/10/2018 23:21

Oh and I brush mornings and before bed.

ozymandiusking · 28/10/2018 23:21

The ones that are left are great! They look good and chew beautifully.
My two sons in their late 40s have no fillings and all their teeth.
I looked after theirs!

Missillusioned · 28/10/2018 23:24

I'm 47, have a full set of 32 teeth including wisdoms and no fillings. I've had 3 children. They aren't perfect looks-wise, but they're ok and obviously very strong

I do brush twice a day and never skip it. And I don't often drink fizzy drinks, but I do eat sugar.

Candlelights2345 · 28/10/2018 23:25

Im 42 with 3 kids and no fillings. I think it’s hereditary my grandma is 92 with no fillings (all her own teeth) and my dad only has 1.
I’ve always had regular check ups, but I’ve only just started flossing.
My teeth are most definitely not bright white, more of a ‘creamy’ colour though.

Candlelights2345 · 28/10/2018 23:27

Meant to add I don’t have many fizzy drinks, I have mainly water and some tea/ coffee during the day. I also eat lots of cheese / yoghurts - don’t know if that helps or not.

UpstartCrow · 28/10/2018 23:38

Mine look like something you'd use to scare children into brushing their teeth. Apparently I have fantastic roots Sad

irunlikeahipoo · 29/10/2018 00:46

Im 45 withoutever having to have a single filling, brace no pain or anything with my teeth or mouth

i hadn’t been to the dentist for at least 10 years and decided to go as I thought I should about 3 years ago 😂

Dentist was amazed that I hadn’t been for such a long time and had nothing wrong with my teeth or mouth
I have always been very good at cleaning my teeth twice a day and flossing as I am addicted to Diet Coke but I rarely if ever drink any sort of hot drinks it’s either coke or orange juice or fizzy water and have never smoked either
They are pretty white and straight with only a tiny crooked one on the side
I do go twice a year now and get them air flowed or whatever it’s called .
And I get them checked once a year as well

user1981287 · 29/10/2018 01:01

45 with no fillings and all teeth apart from two removed when I was little because my mouth was too small. Had braces and fissure seal when I was younger too.

LinoleumBlownapart · 29/10/2018 01:01

41, 4 kids, no fillings, no pain, no problems. I m often told that I am rare, the dentist usually tells me that my teeth are better than his.

Oysterbabe · 29/10/2018 01:03

I'm almost 38, 2 kids and no fillings or problems. I think it's just genetics as I don't do anything special, just brush them twice a day.

MrsStrowman · 29/10/2018 01:08

34 no fillings or extractions, wisdom teeth came through, painful at the time but not compacted and space on my jaw so dentist happy to leave them. I've not got perfec American TV teeth though, my teeth are very small especially the bottom ones, they are white in a natural way just not in a blinding Hollywood way. My mum said pregnancy ruined hers she was sick throughout and the acid did damage, I've been lucky in that respect.

SoleBizzz · 29/10/2018 01:11

Aged 44. No fillings etc. Perfect straight white beautiful teeth.

Tomatoesrock · 29/10/2018 01:14

My teeth are shit, I hate them. Missing some but only from the back, fillings, white and clean but not straight, crap not worth straightening as weak teeth. Some day if I win the lotto I will buy some veneers it is on my to do list.

mrcharlie · 29/10/2018 07:07

My teeth are pretty bad, stems from childhood.
I can vividly remember staying at my nans house and being shocked that she forced me to clean my teeth. My parents couldn't give a flying fuck. The toothbrush in the bathroom had lost most of it's bristles, I think me and my sister shared the same one for ages. Toothpaste ?? whats that?? I can remember going to the dentist whilst at primary school and the dentist shouting at my mum. I had loads of fillings, the dentist talked to me and gave me several tubes of toothpaste. Needless to say I'm pretty ashamed of my teeth. I never drink fizzy pop, or sugary sweets.
Obviously I can't turn the clock back.
Today teeth are more of a fashion accessory, we need only remember TV hosts back in the 70's to think how it used to be.

My 11yr old son has no fillings, and the dentist is very impressed with his oral hygiene. He's never been allowed fizzy drinks or Haribo's etc.

ambereeree · 29/10/2018 08:29

40 2 kids. No fillings or pain. Only brush in the morning. Teeth are straight and white- good genetics and no fizzy drinks. Drink very little juice and rarely eat boiled swets.

jaseyraex · 29/10/2018 08:37

I had eight fillings and a tooth out before i was 12 years old. I'm very anal about DC teeth as a result! My teeth have been fine since my teens though and I started looking after them properly. I've only had a root treatment in adulthood, I'm 27.

ShinyMe · 29/10/2018 08:37

Mine are! My gums are receding a bit now on some of them, but they're healthy and strong, no fillings. I'm 46.

Our dentist was a family friend when I was a kid, and my parents are both very hot about having good teeth (both of them have fillings and missing teeth) and I was never scared of the dentist. They asked him what his kids had, and I had the same - he used to give me this nasty fluoride treatment where it soaked the teeth in this gel stuff every six months. It was vile, but it obviously did something as my teeth are really strong. As a teenager I used to hang off my rope swing by my teeth as a party trick.

Every time I see a dentist now, they always comment on how good my teeth are and how I must have had an excellent dentist when I was young. At one point, after my old dentist had retired and I had moved away, I got a bit anxious about seeing someone else, so I didn't go for about 5 years, but they were still really good.

ShinyMe · 29/10/2018 08:40

Oh, and I should add, I eat sweets and drink fizzy drinks and only brush once a day, and never floss.

teachergirl2011 · 29/10/2018 08:41

Yep 46 no fillings and white and straight
