Toothpaste Poll (lighthearted)

Olivetree615 · 27/10/2018 21:49

Hi all, couple of drinks in and want to settle a debate between DP and I.
AIBU to think squeezing the toothpaste from the middle of the tube is worse than squeezing from the bottom but leaving the cap open? Grin

Only ever get the pump ones, sorry!

John4703 · 27/10/2018 21:52

Squeeze from the bottom and put the cap back on. No other option.

Olivetree615 · 27/10/2018 21:52

Aintnothingbutaheartache - That actually may be something I should look in to! Thanks Grin

I'm with john.
nothing worse than tubes squeezed wrongly, i.e. from the middle.

MrsNacho · 27/10/2018 21:56

I am a total toothpaste heathen. Squeeze from the middle AND leave the lid open!

minivampsmakebloodwork · 27/10/2018 21:57

As long as the cap is left on so it doesn't get all gooey if sooner find it squeezed from the middle. I hate gooey dry-ish toothpaste which has to be removed before you can squeeze more out.

Olivetree615 · 27/10/2018 21:58

Oh goodness! Squeezing from the middle drives me mad! It feels like such a waste of good paste! Halloween Smile

Dh and I have always had separate tubes, so the argument has never arisen...

anothernameagain000 · 27/10/2018 22:00

@sprout I think you may have found the secret of a happy marriage

ElainaElephant · 27/10/2018 22:02

Both are necessary Tbh.

Although if it had to be one or the other, I would rather the cap was on as the dried bits are wasted. I can sort the wrong squeezedness out.

sproutsandparsnips · 27/10/2018 22:03

Only because we can't agree on the toothpaste Grin

Olivetree615 · 27/10/2018 22:06

I’m liking the responses Grin I think we’re both guilty tbh! I like the idea of having different tubes/buying a pump one!!

Peachpebbles · 27/10/2018 22:08

Leaving the cap off is a thing??? Why would anyone do that on purpose?

Pebblespony · 27/10/2018 22:08

The middle squeezing can be easily remedied but I hate dried out toothpaste at the opening.

BrickByBrick · 27/10/2018 22:11

Dh squeezes the middle and twists it, drives me up the wall. and surely must be considered as unreasonable behaviour

I go from the top and then work down and push more up.

Well I think I do.

notmybag · 27/10/2018 22:12

I won't even share my tube of toothpaste! Worse is the person who hold their wet dripping toothbrush to the tube getting it all wet and contaminated with germs. I point the tube down to the brush
Ugh sharing.

ozymandiusking · 27/10/2018 22:20

I have a beaker with MY toothpaste brush, and electric toothbrush, and my husband has his. We both squeeze from the bottom and put the lid on. I don't like the idea of the toothpaste touching his brush and then mine.

TheDayMyButtWentPsycho · 27/10/2018 22:26

I squeeze from the middle.

MereDintofPandiculation · 27/10/2018 22:38

Doesn't matter now. Tubes are plastic. In the old days, when tubes were metal, squeezing from middle meant when you came to get more toothpaste from the bottom, the tube would crack from all the flexing, and you'd end up with toothpaste leaking everywhere. That was a row really worth having!

Cuckooclocks · 27/10/2018 22:40

I can’t do leaving the cap off anything...!

MrsNacho · 27/10/2018 23:16

@ozymandiusking you don't like toothpaste touching both brushes, do you kiss your husband? With tongues and lips touching, seems bizarre to me.

PickAChew · 27/10/2018 23:18

Makes no difference with modern plastic tubes.

Metal tubes had to be squeezed properly.

FadedRed · 27/10/2018 23:24

What MeerHintofPandiculation said, middle squeezing no longer a problem with plastic tubes. Leaving the top off, however is a capital offence.
I not only have my own tube of toothpaste, I have my own bathroom. The secret of a happy marriage Grin

UnleashTheBulsara · 27/10/2018 23:46

If you both have your own tube of toothpaste, how do you get to play Toothpaste Chicken?!

Last time I conceded I couldn't get another blob out of the annihilated tube, and thus I lost, to DH's glee.

(I got my own back by putting a very cold teaspoon down his neck when he wasn't expecting it, so we're all level now... Grin)

straightjeans · 28/10/2018 10:15

I squeeze from the middle and leave the cap off most of the time. I live alone so I don't have to answer to anybody.
