What’s your CF encounter of the day?
Share yours.
I’ll start.

Selling a bunk bed with a double futon below. It’s too big for our new place plus dd has grown out of bunk beds. Lovely mattress 2 years old & clean. Cost over £300 new excluding mattress. We just wanted someone to get some use out of it.
Listed it on gumtree.

We said to the first person who replied fine, you can have it. (All the ‘fine’ replies are me)
How much is it? Name your price. £40? Fine.
‘Oh, but can you dismantle it?’ fine.
I can only come on Friday. Fine.
8pm? Fine.

She texted at 4pm ‘can you confirm your address?’ XYZ
We are moving out so came back 40 minutes drive to get there. At 8.30 we texted ‘where are you’. No reply. I said we will wait till 9 in case it was a misunderstanding and she thought we said ‘around 8’.

We left the old house at 9.05.
At 9.30 she texts ‘oh, the vans were quoting a lot of money.’

Standard bollocks attitude on gumtree/fb marketplace etc.

Not today but last year I was selling a tent on FB for £50 BIN or auction starting at £10. A CF man asked me for BIN for £10 and he'd collect it same day. I said no. Next day CF Man asked if he paid £30 would I deliver. He lived nearly 50 miles away so I said no, but if he paid £40 I'd meet him at a town halfway that I was due to visit anyway, with cash on delivery. CF Man agreed, then paid £25 by PayPal and demanded delivery to a totally different town closer to him but further from me. I refunded him and said no. Then someone else put a bid in so the BIN ended and a few other people started bidding too, including the original CF Man. Bids went way over the original £50 and CF Man was still bidding right to the very end, when (mercifully) someone else nipped in with seconds to go and won it for about £75. Winner came straight round to collect but still the CF Man hadn't finished as he messaged me to offer £100. I just ignored the twat and gave the nice buyer a £5 discount just because he beat the CF.

Glad you beat the cf in the end Harriet.

CFs are a hazard of selling things locally unfortunately.

I sold a wardrobe on facebay, put it on there for £100 even though it was worth quite a bit more because I wanted it sold quickly. Dismantled it carefully, took photos of how to put it all back together and packed all the screws and fittings in sealed bags so nothing got lost. Girl turned up to collect it, then said “oh, I only have £80, sorry, can I still take it?”.

Funnily enough when I said no she suddenly found the extra £20 Hmm
