AIBU to shut the door on this sodding cupboard and leave it?

I moved into a new house fairly recently and inherited a very tired old kitchen. The units are made from MDF and chipboard (I think). Some of the veneer is peeling inside the cupboards so you can see the chipboard underneath.

I was planning to replace the kitchen but unfortunately I've done the sums and it's just not feasible at the moment (and won't be for a good few years).

As a result I've decided to make the best of what I've got and am in the process of deep-cleaning the kitchen, going through every cupboard and giving it a really good scour/scrub. There's a huge amount of underlying grime and I'm about halfway through the process.

However, there's one cupboard (under the sink) that is just so bad I'm wondering whether to just leave it altogether. The only thing I keep in there is plastic bags and I don't need the extra storage space.

AIBU just to shut the door and forget about it? I did try to give it a good scrub last night but it's just too far gone I think. There's what looks like mould in one corner and lots of greasy-looking drip marks on the back wall. The shelf you can see is also filthy underneath (although I have managed to get some of that off...)

Photos attached.
