Can I ask your advice on play pens if you got one would you recommend them ? Baby just started crawling and like all babies is constantly going after the things she shouldn’t, I am unsure how she would take to it and if it’s actually necessary ? Dh wants us to get one for her and fil has offered to pay for it kindly. We do have a large living room so there is room , opinions please

@Rarotonga Thanks for that, this has made me feel less guilty about putting baby in playpen.

I don't just put my 9 month old in when answering door or putting washing in machine. He is in it quite often in the day. Probably 30 mins before his first nap and then an hour in between his second and third nap and then about 50 mins before his bedtime.

BUT... he loves to play with his toys in there and he seems really happy just doing his own thing in there,
It's big, he has lots of good toys in there, he cruises and crawls and kneels and I also get in there for a good bit of time and he plays with me. He also sometimes gets in with me and ignores me. He can't crawl in the kitchen or bathroom really- solid floors, fairly small with too many places to donk his head into. Sitting room there's just too much stuff. I give him free crawling during the day, but I have to watch him every second.
I am still at a loss at how these supermums have a 9 month old roaming free all day! Please share with me your secrets of success.
I have no doubt when he's about 1 he will grow out of playpen and be toddling around after me- but his head won't be dangerously close to all those sharp edges any more!
