Sorry, posting for traffic.

Currently selling our house. Due to a change of circumstances we no longer have to stay in area so just considering whereabouts would be best. We have two children under 3 so want to be close to good schools. Dh works in Westminster and wants a commute of less than an hour if possible. I would love a safe area which has a sense of community. Budget is 500k for 3 bed with garden. Any ideas?

You're a perfect candidate for location location location.

Given your deptford username I’ll keep it south east: beckenham, Bexleyheath, sidcup as a starter

Lots of lovely villages and small towns in E and W Sussex.

Haha I know! I would love to go on! Feels like it's such a big decision and really have no idea. Yes I have some connection to South London but username refers to something else. Our families are based in Hertfordshire and Essex which is where we are now but we would love a shorter commute for dh. Is Sevenoaks unachievable on our budget? A friend lives in Bexley and seems to love it. How about there?

Bexley Village is still nice - Bexleyheath is rapidly going down hill, as is Sidcup.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 23/10/2018 07:23

Sevenoaks wouldn’t get you much- possible though. I’d look at places in bromley such as bromley north, BR1, bromley south BR2 and Beckenham BR3.

Re: bexley I’d say there’s nice parts and less nice parts. Sidcup was one of the areas with largest percentage property price increase in the U.K. last year, lots of people suddenly recognised how many family homes at a relatively decent price, 30mins from central London.
