To reuse gift bags?

I was given some presents in really lovely gift bags for my birthday a few months ago. I kept a few because I couldn’t bring myself to put them in the recycling.

Just wrapping a birthday present for MIL now and the wrapping paper I bought goes really well with one of the gift bags.

Is it BU to give someone a gift in a second hand gift bag? I’ve kept it in lovely condition!

I ALWAYS re-use them. Thought everyone did. They get re-used loads of times here.

Chunkymonkey123 · 21/10/2018 11:01

Of course you can!
I love getting gift bags where the tag has been left blank so I can reuse them!
Why on earth would anyone throw away a bag in perfect condition, that’s terrible for the environment and a complete waste of money.

Brumchum · 21/10/2018 11:01

Not at all unreasonable I do this but Imake sure I remember who gave me the bag .

CherryPavlova · 21/10/2018 11:02

I regift presents let alone the wrapping. Much better for the world.

Spookytoast · 21/10/2018 11:02

Good point Brumchum!

I always do this, I would feel wasteful throwing a perfectly good gift bag away. I purposely don't write on gift bag labels when I give them as a gift so that the recipient can reuse it.

Definitely re-use it Smile

Leyani · 21/10/2018 11:03

Absolutely

Dancer12345 · 21/10/2018 11:03

Another one who re-uses!

Magmatic80 · 21/10/2018 11:03

I would never occur to me not to! It wouldn’t bother me if I got the same gift bag back from a recipient either, although I might have word if same gift Smile

MrsJayy · 21/10/2018 11:05

I think most people re use gift bags we have loads to keep and re use and Im rubbish at wrapping so a gift bag saves hassle.

EdWinchester · 21/10/2018 11:06

I re-use unless they look used.

WorraLiberty · 21/10/2018 11:06

I thought everyone did this?

Just make sure nothing's written on the tag that comes with it Blush

Merename · 21/10/2018 11:10

Yes I thought gift bags were a collective agreement to save money and energy on wrapping, I have a cupboard full of them!

whoareyou123 · 21/10/2018 11:11

I purposely don't write on gift bag labels when I give them as a gift so that the recipient can reuse it.

I never write on the tag either unless I have to.

wombatsears · 21/10/2018 11:12

I thought everyone did this. What a waste if not!

kaytee87 · 21/10/2018 11:12

I always reuse them

GummyGoddess · 21/10/2018 11:13

Of course, they're more environmentally friendly that way. I leave tags on until I use them to ensure I'm not giving it back to the original giver!

Sunnysidegold · 21/10/2018 11:13

Of course reuse them! I have a friend who always puts things in beautiful gift bags and I love reusing those

MsJaneAusten · 21/10/2018 11:13

I’m pretty sure everyone does this! I’ve got several in the cupboard with names on (not names of our family either!) and it’s never bothered me.

mirren3 · 21/10/2018 11:13

Definitely re use, like MrsJayy I'm not the best at wrapping. Tissue paper scrunched nicely on top of the gift, sorted!!

cardibach · 21/10/2018 11:14

I always reuse, but I wouldn’t use a gift bag if I’d already wrapped the gift as the OP suggests. Save it for another present!

bunintheoven88 · 21/10/2018 11:14

Why wouldn't you?

girlywhirly · 21/10/2018 11:15

We re-use gift bags here, DH is hopeless at wrapping and it takes all the stress out of it for him. We re-use gift bags at Christmas too, they last a few years before they get tatty. I just replaced some of ours this year.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 21/10/2018 11:15

Of course!! Also couldn't give a shit if one of mine is given back to me!

Snog · 21/10/2018 11:15

Eco friendly approach surely?
