Aibu to open a CMS case?

14 year old Stepdaughter have recently moved in with us. CB and TC now being claimed by me and her Dad and his CM paymentshave ceased.

Her Mum is not working and already pays for another child with CMS, so we’d receive £3.50 a week, so after paying the £20 to open the case it doesn’t seem worth it.

But, her and her husband “borrowed” £150 of my SD’s birthday money back in July and she keeps asking for it back and it’s not forthcoming.

So am I unreasonable to open the case and save the £3.50 a week until it’s paid back? I know it would take a stupidly long time but it really is unfair in my opinion to take money from a child. There is a huge backstory about her wasting money etc

hmm I get why you think it seems pointless, my ex pays £5 a week and tbh seeing it just makes
me think its not worth it but I hang on in hopes he will get a job, is it likely she will?

@GreenLantern53

She always used to work part time for the whole time I’ve known my Husband, but since she’s had to pay for another child she quit so it seems unlikely.

I would on principle tbh. Certainly yes to give the money to your DSD.
