Using a potty in a plane

This is not really an AIBU because I don’t think anyone will say I am BU (challenge accepted, i hear you say!), but more of a ‘join me in clutching our pearls’.

I was on a short flight today, one and a half hours, and a woman across the aisle from me kept letting her toddler (under 2yo I’d say) use the potty in his seat. He peed twice in the potty before we even took off, then went to the toilet another 3 times and two more little pees in the potty in the seat again. Every time he peed in the potty she would soak the pee up with tissues and clean it with a wet wipe (it was very small amounts of pee each time).

I don’t know why she didn’t just put a nappy on him. He was very young and didnt’t really seem toilet trained. Peeing in a potty on the seat was just grim.

That is dreadful! I would have complained to aircrew. Couldn’t she have taken the potty to the toilet.

That’s just wrong on all levels. Some people just don’t consider other passengers. What the flip is wrong with using a nappy for the occasion.

I get why you wouldn't want to put a nappy on the child because that could really set them back but why not just delay the potty training?

That’s vile. We took DS on a flight not long after he was potty trained. We put him in a pullup just in case (he didn’t need it) and took him to the toilet when he needed it (I took a fold up toddler seat with me).

Bizarre. Just use the toilet on the plane or use a pull-up (although generally I don't see the difference between a pull-up and a nappy).
He must have been quite early in toilet training if only doing tiny wees very frequently. You think she could have delayed it a week if she knew they were going on holiday!
