To allow DS 11 to go to friends again? (lighthearted)

My DS (11) has recently started secondary school, and has made friends with someone in school and he went there for tea yesterday.

His friends mum collected him from school and I collected my DS from the friends house later on.

I was a bit a bit shocked when I collected him at the size of the house. There were six bathrooms, and each of the children had a suite of rooms to themselves - a bedroom, a games room, a tech room, and an en-suite. They also have a swimming pool, a games room with pool table, tennis court and lake with row boat.

Although I didn't venture in more than the hallway, I could see granite worktops, hand painted tiles, aga, high end appliances and Emma Bridgwater crockery in the kitchen and a couple of dogs out the back.

I could also see into one of the other down stairs rooms and there was a mixture of antique and high end modern furnitues, piles of books and expensive rugs on the floor.

Mum seemed very nice, but I feel uncomfortable about my DS going into a house which was in this state. He wants to go there again this week AIBU to try and discourage it.

caroloro · 20/10/2018 19:46

I'm just so worried he'll get ideas above himself and start to hate whee we live

(still lighthearted)

Nicely done 😁

caroloro · 20/10/2018 19:57

This actually happened!

This isn't lightheaded. You're having a direct dig at someone.

caroloro · 20/10/2018 20:15

Er...whatevs. This is just as ridiculous as the other thread. No direct digs at all.

I would be worried about the books on the floor. Probably shows the family have both literary pretensions and hoarding tendencies.
Did you see any sign of a hoover or cleaning materials? If not then the house os potentially a health hazard and your ds could catch literally ANYTHING.
Perhaps invite friend to come to yours next time.

InspectorIkmen · 20/10/2018 20:22

Hahahahahaha @ 'having a direct dig'. Ridiculous.

Potterpotty · 20/10/2018 20:25

Haha this has just made my very boring Saturday night funny :) Wink

PositivelyPERF · 20/10/2018 20:28

I’m not sure, OP, is he clean enough to send there? If he has to take his shoes off, does he wear matching socks? This could go terribly wrong and you could be left with a bill for decontaminating the friends house, if your son isn’t good enough.

bluetrampolines · 20/10/2018 20:30

I don't at all understand this thread. Whether it is or is not a joke???

caroloro · 20/10/2018 20:32

@bluetrampolines there's another thread with the same title (minus the "lighthearted" tag) a bit further down.........that one isn't a joke!

OP posts:
rainbowtrain · 20/10/2018 20:34

Was it tidy?
Was the aga a 2 rows or 3? Did it have the plate warming feature? If not then YANBU

Oblomov18 · 20/10/2018 20:38

This is well funny!

bluetrampolines · 20/10/2018 20:41

Thank you. But erm, I still dont get it. Well I guess i mean I don't get the other thread. Or is that the joke? That no one gets the other thread?

Oblomov18 · 20/10/2018 20:43

Only 6 bathrooms? Why are you letting your precious obnoxious ds play with such scum pikeys?

caroloro · 20/10/2018 21:14

@PositivelyPERF OMG! I didn't check his socks, and he didn't have a shower this morning, although he did brush his teeth! Hope I don't get a solicitors letter about contaminating the Persian rugs....

OP posts:
Arachnoid · 20/10/2018 21:19

Don't think the threads are comparable. Not wanting your child to play at a dirty house does not equal snobbishness.

PositivelyPERF · 20/10/2018 21:28

OMG! I didn't check his socks, and he didn't have a shower this morning, although he did brush his teeth!

I thought better of you! You’ve failed as a mother. shakes head sadly and goes off to strart a ‘Go Fund Me for soap

caroloro · 20/10/2018 21:42
